They'd have to waive him. I couldn't think of scenario in which someone actually claims him and then he can be stashed in the AHL.

Even if he could be stashed in the NHL, how could Gomez agree to play in the minors for 2 1/2 years? It's shameful. Years ago, if my memory serves me correctly, Marcus Naslund retired during his contract with the Rangers because he didn't feel he was playing at the top of his game (even though he scored more goals than any other Ranger that year -- 24). He didn't accept any salary or buyout after he quit too because he's a was a man about it, and didn't feel right about it effecting the Ranger's salary cap. Gomez is a punk. He doesn't care at all what happens to the Habs as long as he gets his millions. Gautier and Gainey should be the poster children for how to run a team into the ground.

P.S. Did you guys see Mr. No-Show Ovetchkin this afternoon? What happened to this guy?
He seems like a pale shadow of his former self. I'm betting the owner who is paying him 10 million a year to score 25 goals is just thrilled.

Everyone should have known Gomez was a punk when he said he'd never got to the NYR and he split for NYR.

The Caps have been bitterly disappointing this season. Injuries aside, they have enough talent to be much better than what they are. BB wasn't the problem ( I thought he was ) and Hunter isn't the answer. This is all on the players and honestly if the Caps fail to make the playoffs or just eek in and get bounced then McPhee may finally be shown the door.

Great win for the Leafs over the Sadeners last night, loved hearing the dominant "go leafs go" cheers in the crowd, bible boy Optimus Reim with a 49 save shutout performance, thats back to back SO's for him.

How does a New Mexico resident know so much about hockey? :dunno

Today's outing is a perfect example of Flower's inconsistency.

He plays great yesterday, and today, soon as he makes a blunder early on he can never bounce back. gives up 3 goals on 12 shots

Sigh
