Brutal loss by the Hawks after such a great effort to tie the game and send it into OT. Hawks D this year reminds me too much of last years team. Too much binge scoring allowed to the Kings last year and the same thing is happening in this years WCF. Good teams just don't give up 3 goals in one period as much as the Hawks do. It ended their season last year and it looks like it's going to happen again this year.

What a gut wrenching loss, and only 45 seconds into OT too.

I don't get how it's a brutal or gut wrenching loss... the better team won. And the team that lost made a game of it.

When a team comes back from 3-0 and 4-2 deficits and sends it into OT, it's a great effort and people should see it as such. No different then in Game 4 when Anaheim came back from a 3-1 deficit to score the second fastest 3 goals in NHL history, only to lose it in the 2nd OT. It's great efforts from both teams. I don't get how it's brutal... Maybe to the Hawks or Ducks fan for either of those games (even then I disagree), but if you're an outsider fan like myself observing the series... it shows that no matter how far up a team gets into a game, it's not done until it's done. It's been a very close and interesting series. One that can go either way.

Also keep in mind these are two very evenly matched teams. If either team loses, yes it hurts, but in no way is it brutal. To me a brutal loss was when Tampa Bay destroyed the Rangers 6-2 and then when the Rangers came back and beat the Lightning 5-1. Those are brutal losses for the losing side. At least this series has gone both ways and both teams have made it interesting. Pretty much every game has gone into OT. I love it! Quite possibly the closest series in a while. Neither team or its fan base should be down on their performance level.

A gut wrenching loss for me is if the team that was up 3-1 like the Hawks in Game 4 ended up losing it in OT or the Ducks being up 3-0, ended up losing tonight's game. Then you can say it's gut wrenching/brutal. From a comeback perspective... at least it was made interesting.

It's gut wrenching when you battle back from huge deficits to force the game into OT on the road only to lose in less than a minute :lol whereas if CHI secured the win, it puts them up 3-2 in the series heading back home to possibly close it out in game 6. If you don't get that I can't explain it any simpler for you sorry.

Btw, where were you for the Rangers v Pens series? :tap

Yep, that pretty much sums it up perfectly.

I see your point and get it Letters and Numbers guy, but at the same time there are two sides to the coin. Both perspectives have their merits and value. Having said that, I still think it would be more gut wrenching to give up a 3-0 lead and lose the game vs. being the team that came back from a 3 game deficit to send it into OT. It still gives confidence to team morale, that even when a team is down by so many, they can make a game of it, and who knows maybe come out the winner. Unfortunately late heroics from both sides of the pendulum (both teams in back-to-back contests), were unable to cap off a great comeback with a win. Still it makes for a great narrative.

And where was I for the Penguins/Rangers series? Easy. I was in California for two weeks focused on having the time of my life, which consisted of a concert in San Francisco, then a NHL Game 1 playoff contest in Anaheim, the Jets vs. the Ducks. With 4 days at Star Wars Celebration, then one day at Universal Studios, which was then capped off with 3 days at Disneyland. :)

By the time I got back to the homeland (Canada), the series was over. That's where I was. :D

If you saw what I did and knew the exactly what went down, you would know just how epic it was sans dragons. btw No dragons needed for a vacation like that one. Went by too quickly. No time to really watch any hockey beyond that one game, which rocked! Anaheim fans are pretty classy folks!

Maybe when I go off to the old country.... visit a castle... then maybe we can toss in a ol' dragon. btw I always got your point, I just don't agree it's that brutal. ;)

Well, you did say not once but twice that you didn't get it so I'm glad that you do. :duff

I was being difficult. I got it, but I was being.. yes... difficult. You know the company... pot says hello to the kettle. But yeah, we're now circle jerking. Hamster on a wheel. Spinning spinning. Going around, but none of us aren't getting further ahead.

Having said that, I need to get to bed. Why the heck are we up these crazy wee hours anyway bickering like two Golden Girls?

So everyone has been on Rick Nash not being relevant in post season action. 3 goals and 7 points in his last 3 games says hello. What a scoring clinic put on from that line.
