For DeezNutz....

On Evgeni Malkin, he was one of our best players and we wouldn't win the Cup without him in the 2016 NHL Playoffs. Same goes for Crosby and Kessel. And he did that on a bum elbow.... where he almost needed surgery! Hmmm ;) And the reason for the Pens success? Waves of scoring depth!

Oh and to sweeten the pot...

12:20 p.m. Pens’ Rutherford adamant about Evgeni Malkin trade rumours

“Let me make this easy on everybody: We’re not trading Malkin, OK?” Pittsburgh GM Jim Rutherford told the NHL Network during the broadcast (watch above). “We’ve never talked about it. We don’t want to do it. So that’s the end of that.”

That, Marc Bergevin, is how you shoot down a trade rumour.

<3 it! Yeah, we never trade Malkin. Present day, Eli looking right again. :)

When did I say there were rumours he was getting traded? Believe I said if they bow out in the first the first round they should take inquires.

Dude do you have some mental affliction? You don't show up for weeks after your supposed favorite teams pulls of one of the greatest out of non where championships and start harping on trade rumours? Then you complelety avoid the MAF factor, to which I and anyone with eyes could see accept and you and you still fail to admit it....I said they won't win another cup with him in nets and they still haven't. Even when Murray was shaking there was no chance they were going to that bozo

I think the fumes from your used jerseys have gotten to your head

How's this for irony?

Wayne Gretzky some 30 years ago called the New Jersey Devils a Mickey Mouse Club after a 13-4 whipping by the Edmonton Oilers.

30 years later, it's looked as the tables have turned. Hall for Larsson... YOUCH! First Seguin and now Hall... two of the top picks pretty much given away by the same dope. Way to set yourselves back Edmonton! lol But at least it does open up the opportunity to possibly sign Lucic, who costs your team more than he helps them.

Also smart move Montreal, trading the better of the two dmen away for a guy who's 4 years + older. Also, nice job removing a good pilar of the community. I would say it was a lateral move, but the long term would say other wise. But hey, you get Weber's awesome shot. So there is always that.

Anthony Stewart is making it a race thing. Thoughts?

And Stamkos a Lightning. Win/Lose for Tampa and Yzerman.

Win - If his blood clot is a one time deal and he is back to his former 50 goal self, then great move. Why the L? It's a cap league. And Tampa Bay has a lot of bodies to resign. And that young team went pretty far without Stamkos minus the last game.

Lol

The Habs traded PK for Weber, what a bunch of fools

Don't even get me started on this. I was expecting PK to get traded, and I didn't mind depending on return. There were a lot of rumors with Edmonton that I would of loved, but not this.

PK has a hard shot as well. The only problem with PK is that he's an individualist most of the time and makes bonehead plays a lot when he tries to play alone. His spinorama was getting on my nerves. Opposing players caught on to it and he was always losing the puck because of it.

I have a life. And I was watching the playoffs very excited with the end result. I even got a Champion Pens hat. And my jerseys don't smell like anything after they are aired out. I did have a Schneider and it did stink of the worst kind of BO and was soaken wet after the game was over. Got a shut out in it. Point is I am not always needing to confirm things with you on here. *smacks your head*

Despite PK's very classy (absolutely no sarcasm there) exiting statements about loving Montreal, I think he tuned out a long time ago. And he was well within his rights. They treated him like ****, and when Price went down he was surrounded by a team that may have made the semi-finals in Pro Beach Hockey. So either he was just having fun, or it was a protest against the roster. But I don't fault PK at ALL for anything he did last season. Any selfish moments read more like a last ditch effort to entertain the fans in what was likely a loss. Or just boredom, because jeez that roster last year was bad once the Price variable was removed.

And this is coming from a Toronto fan. PK is almost like Bryce Harper, where his personality isn't allowed to fully break through / is highly discouraged due to the Old Boy's Club - especially in Canada.

Skill, personality, contract - everything went Nashville's way. But at least Montreal can, I don't know... say they have the hardest shot at the increasingly less-viewed skills competition?

Don't get me wrong, I am a PK fan, but I'm also a Weber fan. I think Weber brings things that PK didn't and vice versa. Weber will be more stable, can clear the net, hit, score, and even fight if he has to. PK can carry the puck up the ice where Weber doesn't really. But like I said, he played as an individual a lot and that didn't start only last year. He also got on his team mates nerves and you can especially see that in an episode of 24CH where PK's reading out the lineup to make his show. You can clearly see some of the players rolling their eyes and not playing along. He took a lot of stupid and selfish penalties as well. Just look at last year when the linesman got in the way of the puck at the end of the game and the opposing player scored in an empty net. PK stopped playing and screamed at the linesman instead of chasing the puck. Talent wise, I think PK is the better player. Overall, I think Weber will be better for the team, especially in the leadership area.

I can agree with that assessment. Weber is the better all-around dman, but when PK is on he is on. And he still obviously has some growing up to do, but he means well. He's still a class-act, but also is a big kid at heart. And in any profession, you need to tame the kid inside of you. I just don't like Weber's contract term and age.. but it's not like he's going to hurt the Habs right now... he has plenty of years left. So those extra 4 years PK has on him, don't really matter at this point in time. And nobody knows what will happen between now and then. I mean who would have thought a guy like Jagr would outplay guys who are 10 years younger than him. I didn't.

Hey DeezNutz...

Positives... Our best faceoff guy will be back in Cullen. I love what he brought. Depth scoring. Responsible 200 ft game. Leadership. And of course, he's the master of the dot.

And I know we didn't qualify Justin Schultz but we absolutely should resign him for 1 million for 1 year. Be great for him as well, he can be again a part of something special and if he does have a big year, well now he can sign a bigger contract with another team going beyond this upcoming season and the Pens have another D option going forward. Too much potential for someone his age.

We can come back to these posts in a few years, but I just don't buy a lot of this. And I'm far from alone. This one, written by a Habs fan, is especially damning.

PK's personality is going to be the crutch people rely on for softening the blow of the trade. As a fan, I'll easily forgive the occasional tantrum and ego trip in exchange for on-ice brilliance and a personality to bring fans to the rink (see: Gretzky, Quick, Rask, Henrik, etc). Does he show signs of immaturity? Yup. Though, they are decreasing - but still present.

I would say PK is the better player - significantly, in fact. But if you want to say they're equal, okay. Even still, this trade just shows Montreal wants to live in the Old Boy's world for another decade. Don't show personality, or anything beyond "Yes sir let's play hockey sir (translated from French)", or you're out. I remember someone with a VERY big personality who conflicted with the team.. Wah or something. But at least trading him netted the team a huge bounty of... Jocelyn Thibault. (And this is from someone who, literally, ranks TBO as his second favorite goalie ever (that Levevre Koho setup with the Dryden mask... oh man)).

I'm shocked Price wasn't traded after being completely drunk at the ASG draft a couple of years back.

The trade specifics aside, PK is going to be amazing for growing the sport in NSH. Nashville's growth in talent has increased fandom, to be sure, but PK will increase that further, due to his personality and community activism.

Don't get it confused - I really like Weber. But I don't like him for PK. And despite being a Toronto fan, I actually like a lot about the Habs. Probably because I'm not actually from Toronto, so the rivalry means nothing to me. As a hockey fan in general, I'd love to see Canada bring the Cup back, but I think Montreal has, somehow, moved further away from that. Not to mention that Shaw signing - a mediocre move at best, and it could get worse.

Canada's best hope for the Cup is now... I don't even know - Ottawa? Jeez. But no matter who you are a fan of, one thing we can all agree on - at least we're not fans of Edmonton. They've been a laughingstock for a while, but Vancouver was starting to creep into their "what the **** is the ownership doing?" territory. But the Hall trade brought EDM to the top again - especially if/when they vastly overpay for Lucic.

No no you're missing what I am saying... PK has the ability to be the best in the game at his position. He proved that at 24 in the 12/13 shortened season when he won the Norris. People made a big hoopla about Tyler Seguin's attitude and how he was a cancer around the team. Yet nothing heard .. not even a peep in Dallas, where he's become a top fixture not only for that franchise, but in the entire league.

Ah I gotcha - well then in that case, I'm in full agreement with that. The Seguin comparison is great - a huge talent not being a fit for whatever reason (in these two cases, whatever stupid reason), resulting in a trade that could set the losing team back half a decade or more.

Speaking of Seguin, it's almost as if Chirarelli is horrible at his job, and is now infecting a second franchise.

Hopefully someone can please help me. I am travelling back to New York again with my fiancée and a couple or friends in January 2017 and luck would have it: the Rangers are playing on Friday 13 January 2017 against the Maple Leafs at MSG!!

HOWEVER, I cannot locate any tickets on ticketmaster when I am directed from the Rangers website?

Hoping a more NHL-savvy person can help! I have found tickets on Rangers.nyc.com but never used this site before and would prefer ticketmaster.

Thanks!

Just go on stub hub, it's the easiest way to get tickets, not the cheapest but easiest

This Bergeron-Marchand-Crosby line has been fun to watch. ESPN's hockey coverage hasn't been too bad considering it's been 12 years since they've done it. Love having the old theme music back and the lack of Pierre.

Where did Pierre go? I assumed he was still part of it

Canada should win this tournament running away

Pierre is with NBC. ESPN has the rights to the tournament here in the States.

Mike Modano wrote that they should just call Canada the winner now so everyone can have an extra week off before camps open. I don't think he's wrong.
