I agree, there ARE other places to go, but Im a SS fan just like everyone else. I dont think the figures are LAME, nor do I think SS on a whole is LAME. I started posting on this thread to say that I think the comment in the newsletter was LAME. That's it. The whole "if you dont like it, you can GIT OUT!" is not necessary and seems to be the default judgement around here.
I just want SS to get on with it. Im a completist and have no intention of dropping the line (though I wouldnt fault anyone for doing so) and it would quell my angst if they did the droids as well. I just tend to cringed when I think about it b/c I dont have a lot of hope that they'd be THAT much different in articulation than the Hasbro figures. PLEASE let them be super articulated, please, please, please.

See DC thats just it though, I dont want ANYONE to leave. It's more fun when we get all hyped up in debate. I'm just saying that everyone is freaking out about Stormies and stuff when SS has said they are comming but we have to be patient. I think we are used to Hasbro doing waves and mass releases and the slow trickle is killing some of us. I was just getting frustrated that it seems more people care about Stormies then figures that require even more work like Chewie and the droids. So please, stay..

Yup, patience. That's the key.

Yea, Im spouting on about patience when this morning all I was doing was *****ing because everything... literally EVERYTHING I have on order was pushed back to second quarter. :lol :lol

Patience is hard to learn. I know this because I'm not that good with it either.

You guys HONESTLY dont think that these environments are meant to hold our attention? Juuuuusst a little bit? Plus, they are not cheap in any way. Im the model of patience, my friends, let me assure you. I just dont like the way SS is doing this. We are spending GOOD money on them devoting resources to items like Bubo and the chess set instead of delivering the iconic characters. I just dont think it's right. My opinion.

If we just sat around agreeing with each other all the time, it would be quite boring.

But tom, that's usually when we start picking on each other and then it gets really intersting. :lol DC, I'll give you that Bubbo was an attention holder, but I think the Chess set was more of a "its outta the bag now" thing. Notice the preorder is two weeks away? I think there's a chance that some things will go up at the same time that will be figural.

I was actually pretty delighted with that announcement. After the huge chunk o' change we're dropping in this 1st quarter with Jabba et al (and I just jumped on the Shire express this month too!:lol ), a little breather while we wait to hear what the rest of the year has in store is alright by me....

....gives us more time to enjoy Jabba!

Yeah, I think Maul and the Chess set are both that. They where holding them for TF but ooops.

I agree we don't all have to agree. (That doesn't make sense) :lol It's all in the delivery.

And yet they let you teach the little children? :lol :lol That's why I was looking at highschool level.

Well, these guys are old enough for my level of patience. :rotfl

Yes.....this is where I come in to work my magic.....pipe down everyone or I shall begin to describe, in great detail, the shaving of my nether-regions. :D

As for the topic, I agree with the person who said that they're in it for the long haul. So, Sideshow can take their time. Star Wars has so many rich and diverse characters, we have plenty of cool stuff to buy from them before Stormies and Clones show up.

I don't expect them to just start pumping out armored figures, but how long are we supposed to wait for a suited Vader? He is the icon of Star Wars. It would be like the Buffy line not getting Buffy for two or three years in. He should've been the second release after Luke. I mean c'mon, how hard is it to make some shoulder pads and a helmet?

From SS's "point of view" they put out a PF Vader already so they don't feel rushed to release the 1/6. The only character they have released in multiple formats is Maul ( I don't count ANH PF Leia and 1/6 Leia since they are from different movies and totally different outfits. )

I guess you could say Han Solo, but you still have two different outfits in PF and 1/6.

In the next few years.

I really would think that we would have one preordered by next year. Darth Vader is definitely in development and I can't imagine that it would take a whole lot of time to get the logistics down.

I also wonder if the Vader they have planned will be a helmet reveal so they have the armor to do and they also have a head sculpt to do for 1 figure. Not that it would slow the figure down by YEARS, but it could by several months while they work out how to make it work and look right.

And let us not forget getting the OK from good 'ol George on EVERY piece.

Yeah, he's a bit of a tool when it comes to that.

I'm thinking perhaps that 'perfection' in the NL needed a ;) after it! From a post I made a couple months ago:

https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=237443&postcount=33

Obviously perfection is in the eye of the beholder. The creative and production teams have high standards, thus, they don't want to release something *simply* because there's a demand for it... they want to make sure it's as perfect and cost effective as it can be before announcing it - taking complaints about past releases into account, creating something a little unique, figuring out new ways to do it, etc.

Believe me, I'm 100% sure they could turn around some half-@$$ed Stormtrooper or Vader in a couple months, but don't you want it to be the best yet? We do!! Obviously, complete perfection is unattainable (due to the eye-of-the-beholder thing), but if you don't strive for it, what's the point?

Plus, in the meantime there are TONS (literally) of other (non-armored) awesome characters, critters, and expansion packs from the SW Universe - some that have NEVER been made, some that the guys think they can do even better, and some that are close to their hearts - which they are also excited to be given a shot at bringing to the market. It's a vast universe, and Sideshow is still a small company (and don't forget they are working on other licenses simultaneously... SW is not the only fish in the sea, after all!), so give it time, and enjoy what IS out there :duff
