Streaming is the future across the board. Studios like Universal saw this and released the Invisible Man 4 weeks after its cinema release. Same for Bill and Ted 3 - I watched it at home and it was great. The Bond producers are just greedy and dumb as ****.

Well, I doubt that either of those movies cost $250 Million to make, so the studio isn't losing nearly as much money on those as they would on this one. It would seem they're not quite ready to swallow that much red ink on one of their tentpole franchise films.

Umm streaming platform has existed for years now the studios ALREADY take full advantage of post theatrical distribution from digital purchases before physical media, digital rentals then streaming and network tv ancillary.

You make it sound like streaming is something new.

The studios want BOTH theatrical AND post theatrical profits WHY should they settle just for one especially since you are asking them to rely on the one that makes them less money.

That is unless you are saying you no longer want to see 300 million dollar blockbusters anymore if that is the case then sure the studios would love to make you Netflix quality movies.

All of this seems to be assuming this is now a permanent status quo. While possible, it's by no means guaranteed. Let's make a middle of the road projection:

  • Vaccines in testing phase right now turn out to be effective by late Spring of 2021. Not a silver bullet like everyone would like, more like a seasonal flu shot.
  • The public (who already have cabin fever and don't like staying home and away from each other) goes nuts in jubilation and goes OUT.
  • The movie-going experience changes thanks to the pandemic spanking, but returns in some form to entice a whole lotta bored people back.
