All right everyone lets take a break on the moral/spiritual discussions and keep all further posts for the time being related to only the movie itself.

MMMmmm... so, just screenshots from here on out?

Can I sneek in guttural utterances? :horror

This movie really should have been made by Mel Gibson. There would be carnage and bloodshed on a, well...biblical scale, plus everybody would speak in a dead language that would require subtitles. "Passion of the Christ 2: Passion Harder".

Given all the hooplah in this thread over scripture and the rest of it, I went over some of the promo material and tried to find any mention of the film being 'based on...' anything. I know at least one person in this thread mentioned that the film was declared to be 'based on...' something or other.

My point is, maybe this story isn't 'based on' anything but the thinnest of narrative threads inspired by a biblical tale? In which case discussion about accuracy is moot?

It's based off this....which was written by Arronofsky.

To bible believers it is not a moot point. They believe the bible to be 100% accurate. For example, my boss will tell you that the Earth is only 10,000 years old and that science is nonsense. God created the world just like the bible says. So to a person of faith like that a movie like this could be seen as blasphemy. It doesn't matter what the intent of the film is.

My point is this particular thread and its participants, and the debate over perceived accuracy regarding the representation of scripture being moot because the movie is not claiming to be based on anything other than a guy called Noah, his family, a big ship he built and loaded animals onto in the period before a deluge, and its immediate aftermath.

I think you are thoroughly confused. In the words of Beavis and Butthead "Dude, huh ha huh ha huha, if you don't know, I'm like, not going to tell yah. Huha ha huh ha."

That's hot.

I made that **** up myself. Someone else knows that story too? I call BS. :rotfl

Made what up? I'm just hypothesizing a Noah story that would not have to be Biblically accurate, does not presume to be biblically accurate, thus would present no cause for Bible literalists to be up in arms.
