It can all affect your health can't it?

Did I say ban anything completely? So not the same.:slap

Bars are instructed to limit the amount of alcohol sold to a person in one sitting so that's the already being done.

Limiting cigs I am all for that. Stop selling those insane size steaks or burgers in restruants sure.

Like I said until we have a system where people are not responsible to pay for there actions I am 100% ok with controlling portions.

What's next? Sue the government to wipe our ***** after we ____? Whatever happened to holding people accountable for their own actions? :huh :lol

I'm still waiting on them to tell me when it's okay to go potty. One thing at a time Nam. One thing at a time.

If your issue is paying more for health insurance, then move to Canada. Hear they have free health service
You still pay in Canada, it's called taxes.:slap

Why should he have to pay for someone else's health insurance? :dunno
I understand everyone pays in a poll of money, but having to pay more because people are irresponsible with their health is crap. I don't pay more for car insurance because someone else gets lots of tickets, gets in lots of accidents. They pay more.

I think you are approaching this from the wrong direction. You, me, the government nor anyone else has the right to tell people whether they can be obese or not.

Your fight should be with organizing the cost of health insurance so that other people's health choices do not cost you more money. Your best attack would be to start an insurance company that accomplishes that yourself. Then you get what you want and you get rich at the same time.

I'll be a customer.

It's been pointed out a couple times here that you are not paying a higher premium on your health insurance because somebody else is of poor health. Your rate is based on your health and what risk you might pose to the insurer.

Untrue. Your companies cost is partially based on number of claims. So lots of claims means price goes up and then my cost goes up too. That may be true if you pay for your own insurance but even then you are still paying part of the unhealthy persons part.

True. I buy my own insurance so I'm not lumped in with all the old farts on the group plan. If you're young and healthy, I don't see any reason not to buy your own insurance and pocket the cost of the group plan.

Actually, the higher cost to cover folks does get factored into the cost of everyone's health care just like those that skip out on paying gets factored in. I don't think they should tell me I can't have a 20oz drink but at the same time some people don't know how to stop themselves. In other words they need to be told when or how to stop. It's sad but it's a fact. I think it's kind of drunk driving laws. We're told you can only have so much alcohol before you can't drive.

Actually, from what I understand, we'll all be taxed for the "socialized" healthcare and if we want to maintain our current HMOs, we'll have to pay for those on top of paying for Obamacare.

Your rate in insurance is absolutely effected by others who purchase. What do you think happens to premiums when fewer ppl buy insurance? Same thing when a carrier loses money on bad drivers, smokers, fat ppl,the elderly, etc. To cover those loses they charge everyone more.

Which supports the argument that ppl who engage in riskier behavior should pay more. funny how everyone hates "socialism" until they have to pay more for something. Then it's "dont tax me" or "im being singled out".

Well then, by that logic...we are all costing more money to those who have medical expenses covered by insurance less than we do.

So, considering that I keep medical insurance only for the possibility of a massive necessity and I pay for all of my family's health care out of pocket because it is cheaper that way, then any of you who have used your health insurance at all have caused mine to be more expensive. Did I get that right?

I would like the Government to assign a badass workout instructor/life coach for me so they can force me to make all the life changes I need but lack the will power to apply. :lecture

Yes, sadly that is the way insurance works. The healthy pay for the sick with the idea that you too will be sick and technically paying for yourself later in life. That is if insurance even exists when I'm old.

Yea that's the usual response of someone who's ok with the government being in people business. Right up until the government decides to regulate something that means something to you. Then it's "damn government sticking their nose where it doesn't belong."

How do these to comments connect? I think I am missing something, here.

Sure, that's all the same :slap

So, if someone is complaining about someone else costing them more money while they are costing me more money, isn't that contradictory?
