I think it's fascinating that after thousands of yrs humans are still debating how to organize and govern themselves.

If ppl really hated govt getting involved in daily life theyd be rallying to get rid of medicare, social security, federal flood insurance, federal disaster relief, etc. Social sec and medicare are the biggest govt reaches in the history of this nation and ppl freaking love it.

and thats just the fed. The state REQUIRES you to educate your kids. Is that govt sticking its nose in? How about vaccinations? Or wearing a seatbelt?

I think you're confusing paid benefits with free handouts. Social Security is something people pay into. Welfare is not.

You're forgetting interest. If the government wasn't dipping their hands in Social Security to fund every little bull____ bill, the interest would more than cover the payouts. Again, you're confusing paid benefits like Social Security with free/unearned handouts like Welfare.

Interest doesnt NEARLY cover whats paid out when benefits are finally received. So i guess when they give cost of living bumps thats from interest on the account?

So, admittedly, you don't know what you're talking about.

The point is...if the government was not dipping into the funds like they are...it would be. There are far fewer people drawing on social security than there are paying in at any given time. The interest on all of that money should cover the payout without dipping in to the principle. But the government is taking so much of it to fund so many other things, that what principle is left does not draw enough interest to pay out what is being drawn by retirees.

Now, I don't know if this is true or not. But I am all for an amendment to The Constitution to stop the government from borrowing from SS and make themmpay back what has been taken.

Irresponsible parents tried this ____ here in San Francisco when they attempted to sue McDonalds and get them to stop putting toys in Happy Meals, blaming the temptation of the toys for child obesity. Thankfully, and surprisingly (given how disgustingly liberal SF is), the presiding judge saw the bull____ for what it was and threw the case out.

I dont know... those happy meals are very very tempting, I had to buy them a couple of times because of the toys, a little kid that wants the toy is going to ask for the happy meal, they kinda have a point, those things are evil, I realized i could just pay for the toy, i didnt know,

yep, totally true, there are things they push on us, like the seatbelts,

besides, I dont see the big deal, is JUST soda guys, Just Soda, Soda is bad for you anyways, dark drinks like pepsi gives you kidney stones, damages your teeth, sometimes i dont understand why people drink soda, is like drinking this weird poison,
