I knew ss would make the first one cheap and once we all get it then tne price hike of 100.00 for each statues. All the rest of this line won't be 250.00 anymore. good one SS to get us all sucked in then raise the prices.

PS: No matter how limited your statues are, they are not worth anything NEAR $200+ dollars as they are amaturish at best. you cant deny that. pot calling kettle black anyone?

I agree that this piece is highly detailed. It is a matter of personal opinion if the asking price is justified or not. I happen to believe the price is about $50 over priced but if the factory can deliver this level of detail on the paint apps then it might be worth the extra cost. There is no right or wrong answer here. Some believe the piece is over priced and are bring vocal about it while others feel the price is justified.

I am on the fence. I absolutely love the piece but feel that it's price point is inflated a bit and as a result, I am still deciding if I will place my order.

Well, you were suggesting a conspiracy from Sideshow to get people to pay more than was necessary.

It's possible that this is overpriced. But a few things to consider--more complex painting, and overall a much more complex sculpt that requires special casting, there's going to be a lot of separate pieces on there.

I saw this statue at the Freak's party last year. It has huge presence in the room and it was on display with Death PF. That's saying a lot. There's definitely a lot of bang for your buck with this statue.

Ok, after taking a day to think about this and get used to the sticker shock I think I have come up with a plan. I am not going to cancel Maul but I am going to pass on Obi (for now.) I am going to wait and see when the 3rd one is announced if the increase is just because of the extra detail in Obi or if this is the new norm. Neither Fett nor Vader have as much detail so they should conceivably be closer to $250 than $350. If these do go back to a more realistic price then I will bite the bullet and order Obi (I am sure he will be available for a LONG time) and continue the collection by getting all of them. But, if the next one is $350+ again I am completely 100% out and I’ll probably ebay Maul.

While what you guys are saying about the prices and being able to afford them or not is totally reasonable, it doesn't need to be a contest about the absolute rudest and most douchebaggy way to say it. It's kind of embarrassing how you're all revelling in running someone down, honestly.

Not once did I say anything negative about anyone not being able to afford this piece. I dare you to find a post of mine that says otherwise.

All I said is that if you disagree with the price then don't buy it.

Just to chime in, "don't like it, don't buy it" is grossly in-accurate.

People DO like it but either can't buy it, or can't justify buying it. It's not that they don't like it.

But you can't compare this statue with the Darth Maul. Maul has like 4 colors on his head and the rest is black. Look at all of the details in Obi's clothes, his backpack, 2 heads, 2 hands. This statue is super complex. Is it worth $350? I don't know. But it is definitely worth more than Maul.

is it worth $350? Based on what I've seen I'd say so. It's got a lot going on and you're getting two statues in one basically. There was nothing that made methink it would be the same price as maul with the fact it has more going on on.

People often forget this. Just like anything in life, you should have to earn it. If you need to save for it, save for it. They shouldn't be just giving their stuff away because some people don't know how to save their money or pick what they can afford or cut back.

Anyway, being a college student, I still make enough to pick and chooose very specifically. I saw pics of this and immediately fell in love. The sculpt, the detail, and the 20 minute conversation I had with my gf examining the story it told.

Obviously I won't be buying it because I was expecting it to be around Darth Maul price. I can afford it, however, I am very disappointed.

While I think a price increase is justified, I don't agree with $100. Hell, I POed the Batman PF and that had an increased price too. The regular comes with two heads and the exclusive comes with a switch out hand holding a batarang on top of the two heads. It's priced at $400. A close look at pictures posted here makes it seem that Obi-wan is going to be just as tall as Darth Maul at 18". Obi-wan comes with two heads and two hands (it looks like). Two heads for a PF = $50. Two heads + two hands for a 1/5th scale = $100.

Now I'm not going to pretend I know all about how business work, but as a consumer, something just doesn't add up. I doubt it took much RnD to come up with switch out hands. Hell, Darth Maul has multiple switch out arms at $250. Maybe you can say it's $50 for two heads and $50 for the uber detail, Arthas is around the same price at 1/5th but he's got insane details going on. The SW license? Maybe that's the reason, but that would mean Darth Maul should be more expensive too. I don't know. I doubt we'd get a straight and specific answer from SS either.

The point here is that there's different types of collectors out there. And different types of people in general if you didn't know. These types of boards are for people to voice their concerns. Some just sound like they're just plain crying, while others maybe need to think over blindly throwing money at this company. We have different types of people in this world, but we don't need either of those. We need to have civilized conversations examining this controvertial issue and expressing our concerns with facts to support our arguments, but then again it's the internet. lol

and none of you whiners know for sure why they are charging more for this obi statue. for all you know, it could be a very fair price given the R&D, licensing fees, and production work needed to produce this statue. by you saying that Sideshow is just criminally charging more because they feel like it is ignorant.

I bet it took some time to get the likeness of two different people and tie them together took some time to get perfect. Which is what this piece is, just pure genius!

Im not saying that Obi has way more detail then Maul. I would also understand even a price tag for $280 - $300 because of that.

But looks like this is whining so I will stop talking about this matter here and leave it to the people who doesnt care
