The slight lean is Obi-wan leaning into the very strong wind that is blowing, I am quite positive. The wind is blowing back and to the left. He is leaning slightly right and slightly forward. He is also slipping slightly on the sand.

Received the statue today and while I already knew (and was annoyed) about the unlit hilt not being included, I was still very pleased with the statue overall. I'm still unsure if I'm going to keep it or not. . .I'm on the list for a custom saber hilt so that won't be an issue-it's actually the lean that I'm struggling with the most.

Shown below is some comparison shots of my statue and stock photos from Sideshow's website. I know these are crappy iPhone pics but hopefully you get the idea:)

It appears to me they built up the base where his front foot goes (and didn't bother to add any sand texture to it either?!) to alter the lean and I imagine add more balance to the statue?

So while Ewan was 'leaning with the wind' originally, he has more of a straight up and down feel. Alec being more vertical originally is now on a slant, leaning INTO the wind. I had always planned on using Ewan's headsculpt so I'm thankful he's not on a slant, but it does change the whole feel of the statue for me. I loved the look of the statue before, leaning with the wind and battered by the cruel climate of Tatooine.

I dunno, I want so badly to love this statue. . .the concept is just amazing and the details so exact that I'm hoping I can overlook the shift in stance.

I think the slight lean is there because they tweaked his left foot's resting place in the production piece. They made it a bit more raised than the prototype. I also think they did this for balance issues.

Well, everybody has his own "lean-excuse" so I 'll go with mine.

Yes that's it.

In anyway I think if you keep him you should demand a new base.

Hmm, it's been hard to tell from the photos posted so far, but I just assumed that everyone's base had the untextured goop that mine did. If someone could, I'd love to know if that's something unique to my own, lol.

Ugh, I'll definitely give sideshow a call if I decide to keep it.

Mine has a tiny bit more texture than yours does. Not much, but it's there.

Mine has the extra "goop" beneath his leading left foot as well. It's not as pronounced as yours, but I can kind of tell, it was likely added post sculpt phase when production was ramping up and they realized they needed the extra support and to "lean" Ben in the opposite direction somewhat. Don't think I would have noticed it to be honest, as when I set him up, I believe I just felt like that was the sand shifting beneath his moving feet. What I didn't notice was the change in texture, or really lack of texture on that mound...

Thanks everyone for the replies. Helps to know I'm not the only one. Standing a foot or so back it's not as noticeable but if you get close my eyes are drawn to it:( It's not a huge deal but on a $350 statue it's a bit of a let down to not open it up and flat out LOVE IT, ya know?

Sooo...after thinking about it over night, I went ahead and contacted Sideshow about the chip in the polystone that mine has where the antenna goes in. I originally wasn't bothered by it as it won't be seen when its put out, but the thought about if I ever have to resell it and the chip bringing down the price point was the deciding factor. Also, the fact that, u know this thing costs $350 had a bit to do with it too :lol

Man that lean just looks so bad onn some. I wonder if it's because some statues have more goop and some have less.

One min I think it looks fine the next I think it looks awful.

I posted on the other board that the base under the foot had been changed and your photos prove it.

IMO

I think too many people are way too **** about their statues. A missing hilt, a slight lean, a slight chip.. Nothing is perfect! SideShow does pretty damn fine work, they make high end statues better than anyone else on earth and we should be thankful they do. If you get a little chip, live with it. A missing hilt should not make people hate SideShow, say they are going way down hill, and think it ruins a ******* gorgeous statue.

I am a perfectionist. The little things people are bringing up would bother me the same as them when I was between the ages of, idk, 5-15. But I'm 31 years old. I get a little oil stain on a brand new beautiful shirt I don't throw the shirt away. I live with it and think it's nothing and most people probably won't even notice it.

You gotta live with imperfections and appreciate the beauty that is already there. Just my opinion.

Sideshow advertised Obi-Wan's hilt and it wasn't included. A chip is a defect that hurts resale value. Both of these are worth collectors getting upset over.

I thought you wanted a hilt from the custom thread?!? :dunno

LOL! I don't know but I'm also 31 and I could agree with u Chunky that a lean that all of the statues have and a missing hilt that Sideshow clearly decided to not include in all of the production are not things to be of concern...but a piece that is broken off and something that will obviously bring down the value of said item (if I ever found myself needing to sell to pay bills in the future) I wouldn't call it just being picky. I've purchased around 100 items from Sideshow over the years and I have never had any issues...knock on wood but new is new and when you buy something, you expect it to be in new condition. I'm a perfectionist too and I wouldn't buy a brand new car with a big scratch on it or rip in the leather...I understand that things can happen and items can get damaged from the time something is built, painted, and shipped and so does Sideshow. I'm sure I'm not the first to contact them about something being broke upon arrival.

Just got shipping confirmation that my replacement Gaffi stick and non-descript (at least to me) spear combo is on it's way!

Will be nice to have this piece at 98%. :lol

Then the custom hilt will take me to 100%.

I personally think that the only reason some images make it seem like the lean isn't so bad is because of the angle the owner photographed it from. I think they all have the same lean, it's just some owners don't see it or refuse to take a picture of that particular angle. I have a She-Hulk PF, and she is leaning pretty bad. I never noticed it until I saw another one in person. I didn't notice it because of the angle I have her positioned in in my case.

The comparison picture aeseven7 posted is a great example of what I am talking about. The left pic is the kind of picture I see more often from owners of the statue, and it doesn't look that bad. While the one on the right reveals the production piece's true leaning nature. Most people aren't taking that picture.

I get it if people can live with the lean. For me, I would have returned She-Hulk had I noticed it on time. The same can be said for Obi-Wan.

Not sure if you are aware but there is a big diff between a 350.00 statue and a 25.00 shirt.

Now I agree that calling SS names and everything is a bit much and we are lucky to have them. But at the same time they are Lucky to have us. In fact without the fans they ain't got ****

No nothings going to be perfect but when you sell a product and promise one thing then give another that is a issue. Even if it's a small one. And the lean is a big deal IMO as it can ruin the look of any statue not just this one. To be fair it's not as bad from all angles and some seem worse then others. It is apparent SS did it because of balance issues and I can understand but it is still something worth complaining about. If this was a 25.00 toy and was missing a part and had a lean I really don't think anyone would complain.

Oh and Nice video by the way :)
