The piece is incredibly dramatic and in terms of detail I can't think of another polystone sideshow statue that comes close.

So many parts that could break... mine arrived in perfect condition but I will admit there were many breathless moments putting it together.

It took guts to make it this large and complex and not based on any of the films but I'm really glad they did. Hope the line continue for a long time.

I agree with all of your statements Rugby, and your photographs are exquisite.

It is far larger than I was expecting too. And I hope the line goes on and on...

mine arrived broken.. going back :(

What was broken? The main statue itself? :(

Man I'd so buy this if it weren't so damn expensive.

Can't justify it in my head for some reason. I think I'm getting old...

After receiving him, I have been able to come to terms with the inflated price. Due to this line being 1/5 scale, there is a ton of polystone involved and many parts which add to the story of the desert nomad. Sure, Maul was $250, but when I look at photos of the two, or even three now with GG, together, I can see why. I'm telling you, when I pulled the main part of the statue out of the box, I was trying to figure out what Fremen did to get it out. Not that women are inherently all weaker than men, but I picture her as a smaller framed gal. And I had a devil of a time getting him out. May even have a hernia now!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, this statue is worth the price. :D

I can believe it in hand but my other major beef is the edition size problem. I mean is it 1200 or is it more? Is there a second run? What if the second run has the saber? What if they are selling more numbered?

Just seems like so many legal loop holes going on with this piece I feel like SS gets run by a monkey and I'm about to give him my money.

Even looking at the Hulk maquette they even spelt "Limited" wrong on the base. I mean is that what we are dealing with here? Is this the pinnacle of statue collecting?

The more I see the trash getting churned out of SS the more I want to collect custom statue's because I know someone , some where, put the effort in.

Holy smokes... first time in awhile i cannot decide which portrait i want to display. Both Alec and Ewan look amazing, might consider buying a second down the line.

I've been switching them out every other day but i still cannot decide...

anyone who refutes that Alec is the only true Obi Wan is a dummy. Only a dummy would even consider Ewan as Obi wan. Dont be a dummy. Friends dont let friends be dummies and refer to Ewan as anything other than a glorified stand in.

I joke. But I know someone got pissed reading that.

But with this statue Ewen makes more since because I see it as him just dropping Luke off and going out on his own. The older Alec head just doesn't seem right.

he does make more since, but i like the idea of Alec doing this. I mean, im 39, so anything that brings me back to my days of watching the OT as a kid, I will always choose over PT. I did rank Ep 3 tho as my 3rd fav SW movie.

But to pass up a statue of Alec with Clone War armor would take a stronger man than me.

I'll admit, I started rolling my eyes as I started reading that. :lol

To me it just means he was getting heat from the empire at his current place, so packed up, walked across the dune sea and set up shop to finish watching Luke come of age. I don't dislike Ewan, but Alec is Kenobi.

I was really close to getting this and am srry to hear ss botched the saber hilt

As a long time collector im not surprised

#264 in da house.
Positive impressions:
Very detailed, massive piece. An attention grabber, for sure. No MAJOR paint gaffs or polystone chips.
Nit-picks:
1) Price (But you do get a lot bang for your buck)
2) A few missed spots of paint (E-Z touch ups)
3) Scale. (Wish this had been 1/4)
4) Leans a bit too much for my taste (E-Z fix by sliding 1/4" of cardboard on leftside)
5) Almost too unwieldy. (To display w/lightsaber out, you need 2' width x 2' ft height x 1' depth. THIS is why it would be nice to not have the lightsaber out, to save 6" of space.)
6) Obviously, not having the un-lit saber makes the empty hand pose moot.

Overall, very happy with this purchase. Can't wait for the Maul & possibly, Boba Fett.

You can sign up for a custom saber hilt, although we are already at waitlist status...

And I agree with almost everything else you have stated. I'm happy with the 1/5 in that it is pretty grand in stature already, and heavy enough as it is, so I feel no need for this to be pushed to 1/4 scale...

I just unboxed mine. SS did a great job. I think this one is much better then the Mythos Maul. Pure Awesomeness.

does anyone have any shelving ideas? im now realizing with maul, fett and vader, i have a problem on my hands as to where and how to display these. anyone using shelves? or curios?

I think the Ewan portrait looks more like an older Ep 3 Obi-Wan than the Alec portrait looks like a younger Ep 4 Obi-Wan.

And to that extent I agree that I don't picture the 'elder statesman' Alec Obi-Wan as a 'desert nomad' type, I imagine he just hangs around his Desert Hut all day. I think the somewhat more adventurous Ewan Obi-Wan, what with his Clone Wars adventures, fits better with this sort of pack-rat, explorer Obi-Wan.
