This is the Image thread. These head shrinkage issues should probably be discussed on the Han reworked thread. :D

By the way, not having a HT body, would the super joe be an acceptable sub and give more natural poses than the Sideshow?

The superjoes is supershort. Shorter than even their regular body. The head would look very large on top of that, although I suppose the jacket would look pretty good.

Ok, not being super familiar with all the body styles, how does the regular Joe (the one with posable fingers) compare? I know they were superior to the first Star Wars bodies Hasbro brought out, hence the switch to that body later in the line. How tall would they be compared to Sideshow, Dragon, and HT? Oh yeah and Medicom (if they were affordable). Would they be more proportionate than the superjoe style?

Okay...I posted those pics of Han in the Hasbro Endor Duster when I got him...here's one of him in his Bespin attire to start '07 off with...

happy new year everyone!

I know...can you believe it? Pretty mild winter so far...I hope my bulbs don't get confused and think it's spring!

I like the outdoor shots best too (oh, and certain kitchen counter of course...)

Just picked up the Gentle Giant Chewbacca bust...looks pretty good posed with Sideshow's Solo...

Jedibear, that looks awesome!!! I thought about picking up that bust just to put next to Han. Really impressive turnout!:r2d2line

I am sooo enjoying this Chewie bust....

It just looks so good with the Sideshow Han...

...c'mon, Sideshow! Give me a Chewbacca with legs! Han needs his trusty sidekick!

I wonder after seen the GG bust if Sideshow could pull off a non-furred Chewie with sculpting like that? I'm sure the articuation issue would come into play... but the way GG made Chewie is really spot-on and may fit in even better than a furred one.

These pics gave me the same thought, but articulation would be an issue, I would think. I hope I don't get burned at the stake for saying this next part...

If Sideshow can't find a way to make a great-looking Chewie with the articulation that's become standard for this line, then maybe they just shouldn't make it.

Honestly, I would LOVE to get a 1/6 Chewbacca, but I don't want to settle for something just for the sake of having it. I'd rather not have it all.

But let's keep our fingers crossed that Sideshow can pull it off!!! :chew

Not to take this thread off topic, but after seeing that GG bust I agree with you. It does seem that Chewie might be better with sculpted fur instead of real fur. If SS could pull off a Chewie that looked as good as that GG bust, even if his artculation was limited I would take it.

I know these are two vastly different scales, but the VOTC 3 3/4" figure of Chewie that was released a couple of years back in the OTC collection had excellent articulation for a small figure.

I would take limited articulation Chewbacca with an awesome sculpt. It's not like Chewie was really flexible and pulled off kung-fu moves anyway.

Chewie is definitely one of my most wanted.

hmm if we would rather go sculpted here are the joints I would like to see:

... after trying to type a long list, basically take all the joints Hasbros VOTC 3 3/4 figure had just make the head more poseable.

I can dream.

What's wrong with doing him the same way they did the Creature from the Black Lagoon? Seems a well sculpted rubber body suit over a Jaws (the Bond version) body would do nicely! I've no problem with sculpted as opposed to real fur. There's more you can control with sculpt. Hair is just too damned difficult to get to look right. Even customizers have a hell of a time with it!

Not only is hair at this scale a challenge, but Chewbacca's hair wasn't clean, there were locks to it and it was messy, so I don't think you could ever really nicely duplicate that at 1/6 scale, so the sculpted look would be the route to take, and GG has shown that Chewie can be fine sculpted with a little work, where Hasbro just gave it the $20 effort.

Hmmm... the concern I would have with the rubbery suit route is that they never fit too well and really restrict the articulation... also you'd probably have pretty soft detail on the fur.

But if they did just build a body from scratch that was fully sculpted with good (if not limited) articulation it could be a good alternative.

EDIT for fear of further derailment... I've created a Chewie Poll to discuss further!

I like to revive image threads once & awhile and as we await Boussh/Leia (where is that figure anyway? Production delay or what?) and anxiously await friday's PPO of the fair princess, I thought we'd revisit that scoundrel while he hunts mynocks...

The mynock really was a fantastic, amazing & oversized exclusive....

,,,I hope we get another big cool one of imperial quality (like a certain round black droid) for Leia this friday that will blow us away like this exclusive did...

(wow...a thread revival & a derailment all at once...hehe)

I was watching ESB last night on HBO and I noticed again that the sculpt really isn't off. That Han is thicker than I remember and that the jacket really is pretty darn small on even him.
