I was watching ESB last night on HBO and I noticed again that the sculpt really isn't off. That Han is thicker than I remember and that the jacket really is pretty darn small on even him.

I was watching the DVD this past weekend and noticed the small jacket as well. But it still seems like the figure is pudgier in the cheeks than Harrison Ford was in 1979-1980.

When I look at the figure, I do see a pudgier face, but I study the sculpt and it almost seems like the trouble is a mismatch between the hair and the face and the scale and sculpt of the hair creates the pudgy look. Han did seem thicker in the face in ESB for whatever reason, and I think if the hair were a little different, it would have been balanced and just right.

(new figure withdrawal...must...take...pictures...in snow...arggghhh!)

Okay....since the friendly debate continues on this figure's appearance, I thought I'd try and have him outside the entrance to echo base here and see if that helps how folks might interpret the sculpt....

(please Sideshow...I'm dyin' for a new figure to take pics of :) ...so I'm revisiting an old friend here)

I don't know folks...I think he looks pretty good....

(Now before I get blasted, yes...I know the pants and boots are wrong for Hoth but there was no way I was undressin' this guy again just for a couple of fun snow shots....)

One thing these shots show me...it sure would be cool to get a "Hoth" version from Sideshow of Han...

I'd love a Hoth Han as well, it's my favorite version of him.

"Then I'll see you in hell!"

JediBear, do you not have the pants for the Hoth suit, or just didn't get to putting them on the SSC Han?

He siad he didn't want to totally undress Han again so he went with the jacket.

Cool pics!!!

Personally, I like the figure. The oversized head that we saw in SSC proto shots doesn't exist because the figure looks well-proportioned in person, and it looks an awful lot like Harrison Ford. There's just something in the mouth/cheek area that gives the sculpt a cherub-like look...I can't put my finger on it. And the hair definitely stands a bit too high.

But I think it looks much better than early shots indicated, and I can't really complain about it. :)

Come on we all know thats just the SS fanboy part of you trying to make things look right:rotfl.

I always kinda though the same things but what do I know.

Looking head on the figure's alright, but from the side he looks like a toothpick with a melon on top! Jacket could definitly have been better. It soooo cheap feeling and looking. If they didn't try to keep the prices low, I wonder how things would have turned out.

So I'm finally going to try and make a new jacket for Han. I was wondering if anyone on this board has attempted this?

Yep, that's the plan. I want to keep a similar design, but extend the collar, increase torso length, and create better proportioned pockets.

Removing the top pockets from the original jacket already improves the look tremendously. The wide pocket flaps were just silly and placing them up near the shoulders didn't help either.

Looking good guys. Justin are those Did Karl Stroop boots? They look familiar and the leather adds nicely to the look of the fig. Monk, those are great shots too. I actually love my Han, counter to most. DarkArtist simply repainted the hair and eyebrows and it made a world of difference.

I actually don't even know where to start to make Han look better.
But some of the htings you guys have done seem to help, I might try and do some things to make him more passable...

Those New Line or DiD boots rock -- the stock ones suck. They were the first thing to go on my Han.

Other than the pudgy cheeks, I don't think the TESB HS was too bad.
