Found 'em. Diorama potential, yes?

Kinto Favorite actually makes several other Spinosaurus models, including this one with the garfish. To be fair, we don't actually know if it had large thumb claws like the Baryonyx.

Something tells me a fish would be too tame for Sideshow to take on. Unless it was a Dunkleosteus vs. Shark scene, or something.

True, we don't, but based on the remains of its closest relatives and going on the scant evidence that we have for S.aegypticus, it's safer to assume the existence of said thumb claws rather than not.

Don't know how I feel about a Dunkleosteus VS shark scene. The Dunk was the top predator in its devonian food chain but which gradually became phased out in that its body plan was built to rend any prey in its environment, but not pursue prey in flight. The larger, slower Dunk couldn't compete with the faster body plan of sharks when they came on the scene. Have to that skull and those jaws, though. Continually gliding past one another like a cranial whetstone, the teeth remained constantly razor-sharp and capable of demolishing any prey that could be grasped... provided it could grasp said prey to begin with. A very cool animal, and even though it's Devonian I would like SS to tackle it.

You're clearly bending Sideshow to your will, then. Tell them to make Diatryma next, see what happens.

I don't think speed was a huge problem for the Dunkleosteus. It was likely the apex predator of its ecosystem, so whatever speed it might have been able to clock in, it was probably adequate to take down many forms of prey. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so successful.

I still suspect we'd see something more prototypical from SS, though. Like a pliosaur, which would still be awesome.

A Gastornis would be really, really awesome. But again it's banking on the hope that we don't only have creatures from the Mesozoic.

Oh Dunkleosteus was extremely successful, but over time you see its fossils become less and less prevalent in a divergent relationship with shark fossil abundance which had a convergent relationship with the rise of lighter-bodied prey organisms. Dunkleosteus was a true tank of an organism, but as prey became faster it was less and less capable of obtaining as much nutrients as it needed to sustain itself on the level of an individual organism, as well as successive generations.

A pliosaur would be great, and I would prefer to see one prior to a Dunk, but a Dunk at some point would certainly be very cool.

I'm all for a breaching pliosaur scene..maybe ala WwD and have it a vs piece like the Para vs Deino.. or two marine beasties fighting..sort of Jules Vern-ish.

I'm still holding out for an Allosaur of some sort....they make it a dio with a Ceratosaur/Stegosaurus and kill two birds with one stone..lol

A friend of mine who loves Charchardontosaurus want one of them..perhaps in a scene with Afrovenator like the art by...who was it ? Hallet ?

There are a lot of possibilties...but I'm really feeling a Raptor piece coming soon...though I'm not sure if it will be a dio or a maquette..I'm betting they want to steer clear of pieces that are too small..a whole raptor pack taking on a larger dino as in the JP piece could be a problem...if SS thinks so as well it's more likely it would be a raptor or two chasing down a struthio or a gallimimus something along those lines.

We've not seen the traditional predator-with-carcass yet either... :?

That's right, a prehistoric battlefield with African dinosaurs. The Afroventor and Jobaria diorama, remember that one, Blade? I think Radman made it. Either first or second place winner, not really sure which. Very awesome.

A pliosaur VS plesiosaur piece seems very likely, as do an Allosaurus VS Stegosaurus (almost seems a given) possibly VS Ceratosaurus, a Carcharodontosaurus, Utahraptor, Velociraptor VS Protoceratops definitely... again I would like a piece with several carnivores congregating around a sauropod corpse. Could make for a fascinating piece. I'm imagining a pack of Giganotosaurs flocking around an Argentinosaurus corpse, diving into the flesh and rending each other to shreds in the process over the prize. It'd be an interesting take on such a large theropod to depict it that way. Think outside the box, I always say! :D

I'm curious if there is an order to the pieces or not...Dio, M, M,M, Dio, ? , . I'd buy a Plio vs Plesio piece, any Allosaur...vs Stego or not, pretty much any of those pieces mentioned. :D

I'm not sure how they could do a piece so grand as an Argentino carcass and pack of Gigas though it's an awe-inspiring idea...the JP Raptors didn't turn out too well when made smaller. Maybe a Giga and a juvenile Argentino...Giga and partial carcass...or a couple of adult Gigas jumping a partially trapped Argentinosaur so they don't need the whole body showing in the piece. Really any sauropod is going to be a challenge I think and if made should def be bigger than any of the other pieces...even if it was twice the price of a dio..sauropods are HUGE and should be portrayed as such.

That's the hope, isn't it? The piece would almost certainly have an extremely hefty price tag, but no doubt it would be worthwhile.

Yeah, I can't imagine a sauropod statue on it's own in the same relative size as the previous released pieces..with their tiny heads, long tails, and bodies..it would look like a really detailed figure if not made to dwarf them...it would be in scale with some figures though I guess that could count as a plus.. :/

If I had to take a stab at a price for a nice large Sauropod..maybe 4-500.00 ? about twice the price of a dio but with only one massive figure.

Jeez, I hope not. The current price range is already killing my wallet. I think you could do an awesome sauropod scene at that scale, though. Just look how the Battat Diplodocus turned out, right?

I don't want anything too big or too expensive. But I also don't want something that's too small and loses some of its detail and accuracy. I hope Sideshow can find a good balance. Twice the size and price may put it out my reach.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I don't think that price range sounds that outlandish.:monkey1

The Battat Diplo is nice but we've already seen how Sideshow handled dinos that were small with those JP Raptors...if it was a Dio it would have even smaller predators with it.

I maybe loathe to find a way to afford it myself but the price really is reasonable..a large sauropod resin kit is easily 400 or more...consider it's painted, on a base, and assembled....not too bad really I think.

BTW nice avatar change Scar !
