Ah. Well yes, she is a fan of the fuzzy theropods, but most of them don't look like that. I think she submitted that one because the Cryo happened to the featured species of the issue. Next quarter is Brachiosaurus. Hopefully I won't get shot for revealing that.

I haven't received my replacement Carno yet, actually. Not sure why I'm complaining, because I'm going to have to start storing these statues in the bathroom pretty soon.

I'd contact SS come Monday morning. Their customer service is quite exceptional.

It takes a while to ship to and from the other side of the US. It'll take at least another week of waiting to make me worried.

There must be one huge @$$ peg in that foot to keep the entire statue up. I know the X-23 comiquette is having issues with the glue holding since the statue only utililizes one peg. (Actually I know of a few statues that only have one peg, however, they don't have any problems)

I can't quite decide if I want to get these pieces or not. Dinosaurs are cool and all, but I'm not sure it's something I want to collect. Anyone want to stop by my house and show me theirs in person? Lol

Seriously, how do they look in person?

In a word--gorgeous. The carno is very detailed, and its such a dynamic pose. Sideshow really put alot into this piece. At the moment if I have to choose between dinosauria and any other line I am currently collecting, I will likely choose the former.

Really? Wow! Even more so than star wars, marvel, disney, etc?!

Edit: I went ahead and ordered the Carnotaurus, since it's on backorder, I still have time to decide on what to do. I also put myself on the waitlist for the T-rex EX and Styracosaurus EX. Your guys think I have a decent chance for them both to convert?

I know these are completely different but, should I go for this or the x-23 comiquette?

If you've had any interest in dinosaurs before you have probably seen the high-end, scientific model kits offered before..most retail at 1-200.00 and then go from there. Then once received they require cleaning, building and painting up...a built up piece can be had for 350-500.00 or more. Here you are getting large, detailed, pre-painted dinosaurs for about the cost of the kit to put it in a monetary perspective.

The metal peg isn't that large..but it also has a resin peg around it for a tight fit..the metal peg I and a few others, believe runs the length of the leg or longer inside the piece itself for increased stability.

Check out THX's pics that he took at SDCC, as well as the threads that we have here. The pictures speak volumes more than we could ever hope to. Also, I would submit that these are easily the pieces in my collection which, in person, appear either virtually identical or in my opinion superior to the prototype pictures on the website. There really isn't a bad edition number to have here being that the ES is so very small. Quality was the primary focus here, and it shows.

Aye, Dinosauria gets priority over them all. However, that doesn't mean that I would hands down pick Dinosauria. It would depend on what the exact pieces are to come extent. For instance I have Dooku and the Styracosaurus on order, if I have to choose between the two I will go for Dooku because I already have three other Sith and need him to complete the display, and the Styra isn't really a dino I am familiar with. However that one against Yoda and the Clone, or the Evil Queen, I shall choose the dino. That's probably more info than you wanted. :lol

Given that the Carno and the first vs. piece are on second chance I would say you have a pretty good shot.

And unless you're an X-23 fan I would get this over that. imo it looks much better and I think you'll get more compliments about this one.

As awesome as some photos might be, it's not until you see a Dinosauria sculpture in person that you can truly appreciate it. The Carnotaurus is currently the most life-like dinosaur in my collection, and I've been collecting for decades. All my customers have been saying the same thing - if money isn't an issue, this is as good as they get.

See, as truly magnificent as the Dooku PF is, I'm waiting on the 12" that's coming down the line. All of my other Sith are in 12", and a PF wouldn't fit. That, and Dinosauria trumps all other collectible concerns. Easily. As Dan put it, when you've been collecting paleoart for decades and have made prehistoric fauna such a cornerstone of your life, snagging one of these pieces if you have the coin seems practically obligatory. The quality in person is quite simply breathtaking.

My Jedi are in 12" the Sith are PF. I prefer PF's.

I know if I'm this excited and devoted to Dinosauria, I can't even imagine how great it is for you and Dan.

Aw, I want the Yoda vs. Clone Trooper so bad. I don't think my chances are very good, though.

But yes, it is great. I do get to see some pretty amazing stuff, with Shane Foulkes' 1:15 Apatosaurus probably taking the cake so far. And this just arrived today.

Needs a little revision in the head, but still cool. I think it's inevitable that Sideshow will have some Spinosaurid eventually.

I can understand that. I love the PF's, and if I had them money and space I would probably be in that ballpark. Space is a continual problem, otherwise the PF's would be my only way to go. For example, I would DEFINITELY have the Uruk-hai berserker PF if I had the space to accommodate it.

Dinosauria is indeed a ludicrously exciting prospect, and I'm thrilled to see that individuals who might usually only collect comic book memorabilia are swaying towards dinosaurs as well. I, for one, collect both. Combining the two areas is also just great - such as in the "Age of Reptiles" series by Ricardo Delgado... wink, wink, nudge, nudge. ;)

Very, very cool Spinosaurus. I'm extremely enthusiastic to see what SS will do with Spinosaurus. I'm hoping for a dynamic take that captures the animal well. Spearing a large coelacanth with its thumb claws, and gripping the fish in its jaws... lots of possibility for a very cool piece.

Thanks for the info guys! It's strange how things work sometimes 'cause I've known about the Dinosauria line, but I've never had a big interest in it until now. I think that all the issues w/ x-23 have caused me to look at other pieces in Sideshow's arsenal for quality. Besides, who doesn't like dinosaurs right?

After reading most of this thread I went to the SS website and checked out the "behind the Dinosauria line" video. Not gonna lie, it kind of got me pumped!

Scar's wealth of information is outstanding and I think it's really cool that you know so much. Definitely something to be proud of man!

I'm considering just going w/ the maquettes for now. Maybe get the dios some time down the road, not sure yet. Still haven't decided on all this.

My biggest fear is getting myself into to many lines. I only have 4 pieces in my collection right know so I guess I can worry about that when the time comes. :D

Kinto Favorite actually makes several other Spinosaurus models, including this one with the garfish. To be fair, we don't actually know if it had large thumb claws like the Baryonyx.

Something tells me a fish would be too tame for Sideshow to take on. Unless it was a Dunkleosteus vs. Shark scene, or something.

At the moment I am only buying maquettes and I intend to be a maquette completist. I waitlisted the new one that was debuted at SDCC (if you think I can spell it without looking it up you're crackin') and I keep going back and forth about the Rex and Trike. So we'll see if vs. get added to my menu and if I go completist in that one or not...

As for getting into too many lines, its very easy to do. But you just have to be selective in each one. Only getting favorite characters, or characters that fall in a certain category.

Well they couldn't do a croc vs Spino since they've already done one I guess....I like the idea of two Spinos fighting over a meal...or maybe two males battling over a female ? Lots of color potential there... ;) I guess they could also go with something like Irritator and have him hunting pterosaurs.. :?

Someone did a pretty cool illustration of a croc/spino scene. I think it was a Suchomimus vs. Sarcosuchus. Heh. No one would be able to pronounce the name of if they made it into a diorama. Except us, anyway.

That's okay, they can still make it, after all I don't know how to say this one either.
