well the UU Luke Skywalker is out now and looks better than the proto IMO and the paint is phenominal so I think it's possibly safe to say that this figure will at least come out as good as the proto if not better

not that anyone else really cares about this figure, but I thought this was pretty cool. In this pic (taken from the EB HD T-800 thread), you can see EB's sparrow sculpt lying on the table close to the computer mouse

You're maybe right w/ their T-800 but we still haven't seen the final production piece and eventhough they beat them in that character, I'm not sure if 1 figure is enough to place them over HT.

While I would normally agree, but seeing how we've seen pics of multiple heads being painted that look as good as the one in the proto, I think we can at least say that the production sculpt and paint apps on the sculpt are better than HT
And I wasn't in anyway saying that the T-800 puts EB completely over HT. I was just saying that they've for once, done a better job than HT for a character that both have tackled (even though they are at diff scales). And at the same time saying that sculpt wise, EB did a great job on the Jack sculpt. I don't think one is better than the other as I like both, but I think the EB JS sculpt can atleast go toe to toe with the current HT sculpt. Might change once/if HT releases official pics of the smiling sculpt before the figures actually released and in hand.
I'm really interested to see how this turns out for Eb/Medi. Like you've stated, EB has shown the ability to make amazing likeness sculpts just like HT and in a few cases perhaps even better. EB will have to go a long way in improving their QC control before even being considered on par with HT b/c as most of us know or have experienced, that's been EB' Achilles heel.
That being said, EB's latest sculpts have been very good/excellent in likeness - Bruce Lee, Arnie & Leon come to mind - so I'm excited to see how their Jack Sparrow turns out here. Knowing that they are in direct competition with the DX will hopefully bring out the best from them.

The talking feature is the only thing that worries me on this with the speaker being under multiple layers of clothing, it may effect the sound quality. I also can't help but picture a pull string on the back of him.
