I've given up insisting on pronouncing "Adobe" the same way as "abode" - even though that always seemed like the most logical way to me.

Well it is a foreign word and it can't be pronounced like "abode" anyway - darn English! Strangely enough the right pronunciation actually does rhyme with Kenobi. But it's a messed up language anyways at times. I will never understand how adding an "s" to "laughter" can make the word "slaughter." Ridiculous. :lol

Anyway, once I save enough I'm totally gonna make that Episode II Obi-Wan. I think it's his best look from any of the films, and after seeing MaulFan's custom there's no way I can turn down the chance to make one of my own!

I agree! I want to take this Kenobi & make an episode 2 Kenobi. Maybe I'll take a hasbro Jango head & put it on the clone Kenobi body. I think that will work out pretty good. All I will need is a clone helmet for it.

Anybody notice how on the text on the box, both Agen Kolar and Saesee Tinn are mentioned? Could those Jedi be on the way? That would be great to complete the "arrest" scene display...

Hopefully that's the case--

Finally got mine and opened it up. He's nicer than I expected, the robe thing looks really good, I didn't care too much for the way it looked in picture, but having it in hand I think its really nice. My only disappointment is that the holo arm on mine was difficult to get to hold the pose at a good level. I'm guessing it was because of the shoulder armor.

they prob will be made so people can make a dio of when they go to arrest palatine....maybe use a medi stand (since its clear) to help palp in the air w/saber in hand.

i know id buy em.:rock

As long as we're getting armoured figs I wouldn't complain if we got this version as well.

If Tiin (Tinn? Can't remember which) is made first wearing clone armor I'll get that one, but I don't think I'll get him in clone armor if the regular Jedi one comes out first. I'm not sure which one I would rather have. It'd be cool for Kenobi to be unique in that. But it'd be neat to have him and Kenobi posed together and breaking up the similarity of the Jedi's outfits.

i would prefer the armored one over the regular one. I remember when I first saw him in the show I was amazed as to how great he looked.

I always thought that Tiin's armor was different then standard Clone armor but after looking at this image with the Clones behind, it's identical just a different color.
This would be so easy for Sideshow to do, just give him different colored armor and a cloak/tunic the way they did with Obi-Wan, a Tiin head and helmet with respirator box, done.
I also prefer this version over a regular cloaked Tiin.
Hopefully Sideshow will do a Clone armored Saesee Tiin in the future.

Repaints never hurt, but the portrait on this figure, even the paint apps, is most impressive from the factory.

MaulFan, I agree...I think Sideshow has benefitted greatly from their partnership from Hot Toys and learning the tricks of the trade how to get such great-looking headsculpts.

I think they still need to work on a few things, but this Obi-Wan is MILES better than the fully painted sculpts of the past.

On top of that,I hope this encourages their sculptors to push it to the limit more (much like Yulli with Hot Toys) and start sculpting the subtle details like facial pores and other various details. Now that those sculpted details will NOT be covered up by that ridiculous and ugly skin-tone paint...I hope that guys like Trevor (I hope you're reading this Trev!) and others try to take it to the next level knowing that those details will be seen and appreciated.

Beautiful shots of the portrait, Sean....it really is exceptional.

Another outdoor shot...

This figure is reminding me a lot of Assaj Ventress. I ordered it, waited...and while I was looking forward to it, it wasn't high on my list of figures I wanted to see made.
But once I got it....WOW! I just could'n't stop trying different poses and taking shot after shot of her. She just turned out to be such an visually arresting figure! I'm starting to think General Kenobi is going to be the same way for me...he really is exceptional...

Wow, what nice pictures, Sean! Really cool stuff. the hooded shots are so nice...and I love the hand to chin stuff...that's quintessential Obi-Wan at any age.

Bardoon- I hear ya', bro. I think we all look up to Hot Toys like an adoring child. I would love to pull off that super subtle skin texture. (not to mention pitch perfect likenesses almost every time!)

I've heard some of their sculptors use Super Sculpey clay, which is really amazing, if ever you've used the stuff. To pull off that crisp of a 1/6 scale likeness in that medium is incredible. the one benefit of it, though, is that it's softer than wax...so you could stamp a very subtle texture into it with a variety of materials. (i.e., various cloths)

I'm wondering if the same could be done if the wax was warmed up a bit with a hairdryer. take a piece of cloth and dabble the surface of the sculpt...it's worth a shot!

Trev, the sculpts you pull off are every bit as good as Hot Toys, sure the skin texture takes the overall portrait that much closer in realism, but your anatomical work takes it right there to matching the face of the subject, and that's the most important. All the skin texturing in the world won't matter if Obi-Wan doesn't look like Ewan McGreggor, but he does. Keep up the good work bud, never get tired of working with your handy work.
