Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

I suppose its fair to say that their paint apps sort of lose likeness but there is something about a NECA sculpt that reminds me of something based on a comic series. It could be the paint. Aside from the obvious reused T2 sculpt certain features (jawline, lips, eyes) look exaggerated. Again for $15 and being that it's Terminator related these are a no-brainer.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

I seriously hope NECA does a 12" Police Station Shootout figure. Then I'll have some good Gargoyles on my HT custom! :monkey3

Really liking the look of the 7" version in that latest pic. NECA seems to be going for a pre-determined leg stance, but all in all, you can't do much better at that price point. Great sculpts and vibe to the piece, too.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

Have you been exposed to too much hot toys? There's been comparisons to arnold's face in T2 and the T2 figure by neca, and they match up perfectly..

The facial dimensions are better yeah. I think it was the movie poster that images of the figures were compared to and someone did a morphing trick on it. NECAs one translated better. The HT inevitably gives an overall better impression though with its high-end finish and paintjob.

As with the ol' P1 comparisons though, when in doubt buy them all.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

That bit at the end about a young John Connor is stupid.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

Thanks for posting that Greygoose. In the words of John Malkovich in Con Air "You're proving to be a most useful mammal"...or something to that effect!

Yeah I agree the part about John Connor annoyed me - I'd totally buy a young John figure and that kind of joke doesn't help that to come to pass.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

Have you been exposed to too much sunlight? There's been comparisons to HT's and NECA sculpts and there's no comparison. NECA is far from "perfection" newb.

The HT face is far too squashed. Neca got it right by making it more elongated, just like the real arnold has :rotfl The only thing about it that's far from perfection is the paint apps, gheyboi.

No need to call Voorhees a gay boy for a differing opinion.

This NECA Terminator vs. Hot Toys Terminator headsculpt debate needs to stop, it's been done to death already and it doesn't prove a damn thing. They're both great and they both have small "flaws".

The sculpts fit the scale and type of figure. The portraits on the NECA figures are well done for the $15 dollar, 7" action figures like wise the portrats on the Hot Toys portraits are well done for $150, 12" high end collectible figures. What one company has problems with (quality control for NECA, proportional issues with Hot Toys) the other makes up for (sharp detail proportions for NECA, superb paint applications for Hot Toys).

Just shut up and buy both.

Tried to make it bigger but not sure what Picasa did in resizing.:dunno Aslong as we can see the pretty pictures.:D

When are these due to hit stores?

:lecture:lecture

Its always a tad uncomfortable when 2 people whose opinions you respect on the boards get into a flaming match. So please, for my sake guys, don't go there. I just....it just makes me wanna.. :monkey2 :wink1:

Anyway I'm buying all. I wish we could combine all the positives of each companies sculpt into one and get rid of the negatives but we can't. Now Enterbay's one, though bringing an excellent not-sure-it-could-be-better face sculpt, has that overlarge cranium. It seems theres always gotta be something off.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

Will they be doing any of the T1 stuff in 12" like the T2 stuff? Given the subject matter and my volatile nature regarding bull____ posts, I don't really want to read from the start of the thread. :lol

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

No plans at the moment. I would guess they might do the Police Shootout if HT doesn't come out with one before they'd have to commit to putting one out, but i don't see them doing any other 12", especially if they're not doing T-1000. They may not even have rights to do T1 in 12".

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

:lol

I don't think so. Everything Tankman says in the Predator thread points to NECA quite deliberately avoiding 1/6 scale where HT have it covered. They abruptly stopped any further 12" T2s once the HT line began. I'm sure we would have otherwise at least seen a T-1000 by now to go with the Pescadero T-800.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

Arnie's T-800 > T-1000. Doubly so from a marketing/sales standpoint. Besides, I thought the T-800 12" sold relatively well.

Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread

The first T-800 came out before HT even had a proto shot leaked, I wouldn't have bought mine if I'd known HT's was coming. The second still had the benefit of no competitive piece on the market.

Even with good sales, NECA seems to shy from putting resources to items that have competitors, which is why our best chance, and would be nice, is the Police Shootout, there is no other 1/6 figure of it out there, not with Arnie's likeness, it woudl own the market. Tech Noir has been done and better so there's no point in doing one of those.

Here's hoping. I need the 1/6 Gargoyles. :lol
