How so, the widow's peak I know is and LFL thing, but what else would they chime in on?

Well, someone decided to make the dome smaller for some reason. The ANH dome was always slightly bigger and more flared-out. And the dome has apparently changed from the prototype.

Weirdness. Before I started collecting Sideshow I had no idea there were so many costuming subtleties.. even within the same movie.

I don't think it is. I bet it's a couple of pieces if not a few, like the Stormtrooper. MaulFan just doesn't feel like exploring that aspect with his Production Sample and I can't say I blame him. Once he gets into our hands, we'll know for sure.

I'm sure it's several pieces glued together, there's a seam along the neck. I would say Pixletwin's the one to consult about disassembling the Vader dome, whatever he did to get the Stormtrooper helmet apart can likely be used for Vader as well.

You're right, one solid piece doesn't really make any sense.
Hopefully it'll be easu to customise...

I can only go by photos from SDCC and Sideshow's sight, but as far as I can tell, the dome didn't change from the prototype at all.

As for the size, it's not perfect, but it's flaws are also applicable to the other 3 films as well.

Well, espeically A New Hope, they didn't have top notch resources, I think that's why Vader got such and upgrade in ESB, I think that's what Lucas wanted but under circumstances couldn't achieve it on ANH.

I will not be messing with the helmet when i get this, i mean hell its not Stormtrooper bad atleast.

Dome size seems different from picture to picture... in most of the close up shots it looks good to me. Well, at least the over all size of the head, maybe you're referring to a specific part?

The bottom of the dome should be longer and flare-out more. But it's certainly not a deal-breaker and overall this is an outstanding figure... especially for $120.

Is that last hand the one you used with Antilles?

Sorry, lost this question in the mix, yes, this is the hand for the Antilles shots.

valfar posted this pic and the helmet has been bugging me since seeing it. You can see that the helmet extends pretty far down. The figure looks like it got a haircut.

It's actually the lack of slant from a profile. The ends of the flare end at the same point as the photo posted above, but from a profile the helmet runs straight back from that point, on the ANH helm it slants towards the back and creates a bigger silhouette.

The red line matches up pretty well on the SSC figure, what sets it apart is the path of the green line, on the figure, that part of the helmet basically runs straight over from one end of the red to the other, but in the film, there's a crescent look because if you looked at the hemet from the side, it angles back like this image.

See how it is on the figure.

Figure dome's about 90% there. If it were adjusted to the rim where the widow's peak is were a littler off from the mask, it'd slant backward like the photo PaulCarson posted.

I see now what you mean about the profile slant or lack there of. Thanks for helping out a visual learner.:vader

As stated many, many times: GREAT photos! Thanks for taking the time.

Yeah, the helmet looks "off" at some angles but the profile is spot on. Either way, I'm really looking forward to getting mine.
