I think I'm to the point where the only thing left to do is buy a new cape for my Vader to be 100% perfect in my eyes... So who makes them? Ilforigno?

As the interview on cooltoyreview.com clearly says a Sideshow ROTJ vader is coming soon, I really have no need for a ANH one, after having seen all OT movies, I always thought it looked not evil enough, ESB our ROTJ looked much more frightening.

Also so freaky about the announced Hoth stuff ...

i hope SSC does a better version of darth vader, because the last vader they made i owned only briefly and realized how out of scale he was, he was TOO big, and cmon, nowhere near the detail of hot toys offerings, which is why i was hopeing that HT would make vader.

So having no Vader now while waiting for HT is better than having a Vader that's an inch too tall?

There's been a mod heavily circulated to fix that problem and bring Vader back into pretty good scale. The lack of detail is something else and really a POV.

Though I am tempted to get a new cape.

Still, I can say SS Vader is one of my four or five favorite figures, and there's no way I'm waiting/hoping for HT to release the SW figures I want... They're too busy with licences like Sucker Punch, Clash of the Titans and Prince of persia to bother with some small time characters like Darth Vader. pfft...

I have them saved as favorites on my PC at home.

Personally, in either case, I'd rather have neither and wait patiently than have a half-a$$ed version. Really hope SSC pulls out all the stops with the new Vader.

I want Luke on a muscle body akin to the Bruce Lee so he can be posed in tank top ala Degobah training scenes.

That's why I have a Bruce Lee body waiting and ready to go!

Yeah, but as much as I love it, I'm partial to the ESB and ROTJ designs, which the new SS one will incorporate. I guess I'll have to see!

Hmm, well I originally bought the BL suit version for the extra body but then I thought I'd prefer a Dagobah Luke so that's why I have it. I dunno, I'll check out another body, I think Soldier Story might have something comparable. Maybe a little Frankenstein surgery is in order...maybe with a DX Jack Sparrow body?

Wow, that looks awesome, I don't even know where to start trying to put that together.

First: buy a SS Vader. After that you can start the mods

This is mine with a Hasbro dome from a few months ago. I've since lowered the dome a bit more and gave it a coat of future. It just takes some TLC, but it's well worth it... Besides, everything you touch turns out great so I'm sure Vader will be no different.

Jesus, you can really see the inaccuracies of the sculpt and dome in this comparison.... I'm tempted to dremel the front into more of a widows peak.

And no, you can't have my toys, Sam.

Well, I wasn't specifically referencing SSC's Vader once it's been modded (great job by the way, does look very good).

But out of the box, yes, I'd say Sideshow messed Vader up. I'm not really interested in modding stuff once I buy it. I think it's great that there are many that have gone the extra mile to correct the details that SSC missed (helmet, cape, etc.) but at this point, getting a decent Vader would mean tracking one down on the secondary market (along with maybe a Hasbro dome, from what I've read in many posts), then modding it to get it to hopefully look as good as yours. For the trouble and expense, I'd rather wait for the re-release and trust they've corrected all the issues people had with version 1.

But your version of Vader on the left is from ANH, the picture on the right is from ESB. Maybe a comparison pic from ANH would be closer to your version?
