Sorry, I don't watch lame comedies. Had I known Transformers was a comedy I would have stayed home.

I was one of the first to stand up and say I did not like the previews, I didn't like the robots and I did not like the style of the movie from the previews.

Boy was I wrong!!!

I loved this movie, one of the greatest action films of all-time.
While I would have liked to have more Autobots and I hated Tuturo's character overall I loved the film.

I can't wait for the sequel, I hear they will do a aircraft carrier in the next one.

This movie proved that shows that we loved as kids like Transformers and G.I. Joe can be done as a movie. This film was done right.

Sorry, can't afford $7 movie popcorn when admission is $10. Could have bought the DVD for that. That's why I don't go to the movies anymore.

Remind me to hit my friend up for my money back when I go to ComiCon in a few weeks.

(yes, I know you are reading this Kev.):D

I agree with Dave. The hell with those prices, the mexican in me brings my own supply in. :rock

Well, I finally got around to seeing this one and while I too was in the vocal majority of Transformer fans who screamed about Michael Bay's Gobots after seeing the designs, hearing some of the plot points..etc... I really enjoyed the film. I avoided this thread for spoiler reasons so you'll have to excuse me if I repeat a point that was already made.

Great movie--- favourite scene was Megatron, a la King Kong, standing on top of the building and ripping Jazz in half---- loved it!
The comedy was fine in most parts but I could have done without the whole chihuahua and the Autobots hiding from Shia's mom & pop...
Lack of Decepticons was bothersome--- and when I say lack of Decepticons I mean there were only two true Decepticons (Megatron and Starscream) and we didn't see enough of them or their interaction-- hopefully that'll change in the sequel.

Plot point---
When Mojo starts barking at Sam he says it's "too early" and then he takes off on his mother's bike because his car/Bumblebee starts stalking/chasing him. He then runs into Barricade and he escapes (with the fox) in Bumblebee--- it's broad daylight and due to the earlier quote quite early in the day... moments later it's pitch black and night... that's a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong chase.

I really enjoyed the movie and I was in the minority that actually liked most of the designs for the movie...maybe because I wasn't such a big Transformers fan as some people I know (I collected some figures). The only design I was disappointed in was Starscream...but didn't mind it so much cause he had a small part like Megatron.Maybe he'll return in the sequel with a cooler design? We'll see.

So since we're green lit for TWO sequels......UNICRON anyone...?

I'd also like to see the Dinobots or AT LEAST Grimlock show up...I'd also like to have Hot Rod in it as well and I'm sure they'll bring in Arcee since she was initially supposed to be in this movie.

Unicron would be awesome!!! Gotta love a planet eater. I definitely think Grimlock will be in the sequel, he was really cool on the sector seven website in the short video of him. I'd love to see some constructicons and Ultra Magnus myself. :rock

Damn straight... the Smuggler in me brings in my own candy and drink supply. F those prices...:rock

Just saw the movie today and damn did it rule. Loved it. While I was not a Transformers fan as a kid, I had to see it.... Really hoping this paves the way for a kick ass G.I. Joe or He-Man Movie. I was really into those when I was little. I know they can do it....:monkey3

Optimus Prime rules...:monkey5

Oh man, with the quality of makeup today, I'd kill to see a live action Joe with Serpentor :drool

I'm surprised that nobody else seems upset by the fact that Megatron is only in it for like 10 minutes and then he gets killed off. He's the leader of the Decepticons! What a waste of his character. Megatron has less screen action than Darth Maul. Hugo Weaving has like 2 lines. So much for the sequel.

Megatron isn't really dead ya know...

Plus, lets see, Unicron makes Galvatron. Plenty of stuff for the sequel(s).

First off Dave, love the Avatar, my little Droogie...

Second I agree, there could have been more Megatron but I am not disappointed in the little bit of the movie he was in.
Actually the last part of the movie that he was in, that final battle (maybe one of the greatest action sequences ever) was the best part.
It was like the whole movie led up to that part were the Autobots and Decepticons tear up the streets of L.A.
It made the battle more dramatic, plus Megatron pulling a Hulk on Jazz and ripping him in two was both shocking and awesome.

Like others out there, I think Megatron is not dead, he just needs some Energon to get him going. If Unicron is in the sequel that would open the door for Galvatron, but I think they would have shown their best hand too soon if they use Unicron as early as the second movie.
Hell, there is so much more they could do before Unicron, like the Dinobots, or a combiner like the true Devastator.

Too lazy to read through the whole thread, been avoiding it until I saw the movie.

Just got back and I have to say I'm pleased, but not overjoyed. It was a solid action flick. But I think they could have easily put in more effort (and less cliche characters/plotlines) and gotten a really golden movie. All the elements were there, but I think in hopes of reaching an insanely broad audience the quality of the film was sacrificed.

I was a lot less bothered by the new designs and the Autobots have actually grown on me. Not as thrilled with the Decepticons... they're so damn busy its hard to tell whats going on during fight scenes.

Anyway, I was really expecting this movie to be Spiderman 3 bad (ducks head) and it ended-up being pretty good. So I can't complain :lol

You'd better duck!!!
But seriously, how could you be upset with cliches in a Michael Bay movie - It's a Michael Bay movie!! You should have expected that going in.
I agree with you on the Decepticons, you really didn't get to know them as well as the Autobots. The Decepticon that had the most screen time was Frenzy, and they spent a lot of time on the human characters. Maybe in the sequel they can focus more on the 2 warring factions of this Civil War and let us get to know our villains a little better.
Overall I was pleased with the film, especially the last hour of the movie were the action took center stage.

I felt that too...being a non-fan, I usually didn't know who was fighting who. sooo busy. I'd like to see this on dvd so I can see how much I missed.

Well, well...someone else who found S3 "bad"....here, here.

On "Transformers"....the effects were amazing...some real "wow" moments. Shia LeBouf was good (read: not irritating). John Tuturro (sp?) was the Jar Jar of this movie...completely over the top and annoying. And has Bay ever read a bad, groaner-inducing line he didn't like? This movie had 'em in spades. And what was with the break-dancing,"ghetto"-talking robot? And people complained about Ja Jar being a bad stereotype? It was like the tone of movie was all over the map. Also hope that the "family humor" gets toned way back next time...wasn't funny, was cringe-inducing.

The script was pretty weak with it's constant stream of bad one-liners and hoary sci-fi cliches (the secret organization, the arctic burial, the "we wouldn't have technology without 'em" and more). Watching this makes me a little nervous that this guys are writing the "Star Trek" reboot...
The product placement made it just shy of being an infomercial (interesting that everyone drives GMC vehicles and plays with Hasbro toys and uses Nokia phones)...but I guess most pop-culture movies do that these days.

One aspect to the constant destruction I appreciated was that people actually looked threatened or were affected by the flying debris and such instead of it looking almost antiseptic and harmless (like S3 & X3 was).

Was it a great movie? Well, it didn't have a "3" in the title but it was a Michael Bay movie so that would be a "no". But it did manage to create a spectacle with some "wow" and the promise of something more interesting the next time around (maybe with a new director and better script)...we'll see. In what is turning out to be a weak summer at the movies, it was the best "event" movie so far...but that's not really saying much.

:lol :lol :rotfl

Oh I expected it, but its one of those things that you hope won't be as cheesy as you feared. I knew it wasn't going to be a top-shelf quality sci-fi flick. But in my heart I know it could have been and that's what makes monkeys cry :monkey2

Shockwave is in the video game of the movie--- that's not to say that he'll take centre stage in the sequel but it would make sense that he came to earth looking for both Megatron and the all-spark and maybe in connection with the comic the "dinobots" were sent to stop him--- tar pit--- many many many years later they re-emerge.

Unicron will not be in these movies... Just like "Galactus" in the FF sequel--- how would you accurately display that awesome spectacle?

Autobots that MUST be in the sequel (simply for G1 fanatics):

Prowl
Ultra Magnus
Jetfire
