thank you for the pics:cool:

Incredible bust, very impressive!!
I can't wait my yoda bust :lol

Thanks for the comments guys, I started this thread thinking some of the people that took some of the first photos might break out the camera some more, he's really fun to photograph and different light setups can give a good range of how he'll look. I have a good-sized batch of images to post tonight when I get home, some similar to what I've already done, some closer up shots to highlight the painting and sculpting work on this thing as well as details on the clothing materials. I will say this about his eyes, they are not as amazing as the proto, however, now that I was really able to stop and look him over, I can say they are much better than this image leads you to believe.

This picture makes them look incredible Hulk green with black pupils and that's about it. Not the case in person. They are Hulk green, but there is a a real eye paint job done on it, lines of dark green stroked inside, a brown, stroked encircling of the pupils. The one thing I think that takes the life out of the eyes is the pupils aren't black, they look filmy almost so the black is more like, on a scale of 1-100 with 1 being White and 100 being black, about a shad in the 75 range, and I think if it were 100, they'd really come alive more, so for those not afraid to custom a piece like this to the point of permanent altering it, whip out a brush and I think you can get a good improvement, I'm happy enough and not brave enough to do this to a $600 bust, so at most, I am probably going to try and devise a segment of cane for him. I took some closeups of the eyes and hopefully you'll be able to see what I mean, they're tough to photograph without losing the detail that's there, I actually though they were going to be very plain and flat like the SSC image leads you to think, but they aren't which is why I want to point that out to folks. If you're dead set on proto eyes being the only acceptable style, then you won't be won over on this point, but if you were on the fence and thought they may be ok even though they're not like the proto, I think you'll be happy with what you get.

Yet another example of why Sideshow needs to hire a better photographer...I almost did not get this piece because of the bad pictures.

Thank you Maul for showing us how it really looks.

Well Sideshow stated in a Legolas thread about their photography practices and it makes sense, but at the same time, I'm sure there are customers who would love to see images in a more "on your shelf" light setup, perhaps maybe they can do both worlds one day, but I think this shot highlights him pretty well.

Ok, more shots, some are probably fairly similar to my first batch, I tried mixing up the lighting a little, and others are to highlight the details of the piece, you really have to have it in person to really take in the quality of his clothing, but I took some shots of that anyhow.

That really is cruel ;), I can't wait for mine! :monkey5

The iris looks like it is almost a silkscreen of some sort, from the pics I see pixels.

I'm not sure how it's all put together, perhaps the eyes will be part of the response, if I get one, from Sideshow about his materials. As for the latex or whatever it is, I haven't said much on it as a whole, it feels cool, but it's not like a cheap toy with a thin layer of rubber around a solid toy, I'd guess that parts that are made from whatever material this are about half an inch thick of this material, and it almost seems like t he coloration isn't paint but perhaps somehow just part of the material, which would be good for paint not peeling later or anything. To give people an idea of what he's like, here's a breakdown.

Standard 1:1 bust base from the SW line, which people have seen

Full polystone body with the same coloration scheme as the latex

Latex left hand up to the wrist, polytsone from there

Head is latex around a polystone under structure, the ears are 100% latex with his skull and neck being polystone underneath, and the latex on his head transitions to the polystone chest in a very smooth manner, not that you'll ever expose him that far

That's impressive.....most impressive. This is the best thing Sideshow has put out in some time.:rock Bravo!

That is a lot of latex...lifespan of maybe 10 years before it starts rotting?

Look at some of the mid-90s latex pieces. Ouch.

Hopefully, as you said, it is thicker and will last longer.

My hope and prayer with this piece is that it gets more than 10 years worth, they gave us a public statement that Jabba wasn't done that way to make him last longer, that was for a $100 figure, it just wouldn't make sense for them to jeopardize a $600 collectible instead, I'm hoping I head back from them soon about the material so I can feel safer about it, perhaps they have access to something more durable than other companies that have done it before. The thing is, It actually almost feels like a foam material more than just latex like a halloween mask, maybe if it is a foam of some sort it'll last better.

Sorry, just saw this thread. The outside of Yoda's head is not made of latex, but rather a soft vinyl, covering a couple of layers of foam rubber, which covers a resin core. The body/arms are polystone.

We'll be doing a production blog entry on it shortly, since this is such a unique piece :chew

Dusty you ROCK!!!, you always step in right when you're need, thanks for addressing this. It certainly is unique, and I'd have thought it would have been pointed out before he shipped, but makes me feel better, I love the little green guy I don't want him to break down on me :)

And just for people wondering how real he is, he keeps freaking out and jaw-dropping my co-workers as each new one sees him at my desk :)

really amazing pictures MaulFan!! He looks really awesome!! I personally dont have a problem with the eyes based on what you have shot here. I wish I was getting mine sooner! Thanks for the great photos to give us all a real perspective of how this guy looks
