l made a teacher rage big time once. she took my $50 FOX racing hat from me for wearing it in class. she said l could have it back in a week. when that time came she went in her desk to get it but it was gone. someone stole it. l told her she owed me $50 for losing my hat. she said."no l don't you shouldn't of been wearing it in class". so a couple days later l asked to borrow her big expensive science book. she said she needed it back ac ouple days later. l told her l was keeping it because she lost my hat and owed me $50. she flipped out, kicked me out of class and slammed the door so hard she cracked the frame on the door.:lol

You paid $50.00 for a FOX racing hat?

Reminds me of when I confiscated a kid's hat for blowing cigarette smoke in my face. Twelve years old. I told him if he wanted it back he could collect it from the principal's office. Next thing I know I'm invited to the principal's office to get a dressing down for confiscating a student's personal property.

What a spineless idiot. There are a lot of systemic issues with education in this country, but if a school is out and out crap a lot of the blame can be sheeted straight back to the principal.

That sucks. My wife worked for a great school district (non-union district). She was loved by the staff and by the kids. But she used to take stuff that the kids were not supposed to have all the time and never got anything worse than apologies from their parents. And every time we went to a store some new kid would run up and grab her in a hug, say hello and tell her how much they missed her since the moved to the next grade.

But she was the junior teacher so she got cut two years ago and has been relegated to a substitute since then. She still works a lot as the teachers like her so much they almost schedule their off time so she can cover their classes (there is a list and she has to take her turn, but the list is pretty short).

This post reminds me of those burglars who cut themselves on glass from a window they broke to gain entry to your home and then try to sue you for having broken glass in the window frame. Or the type of kid who pics a fight with you, winds up getting his ass kicked then has to go grab his posse to help him try again. :cuckoo:

Matt Damon is my hero. I've been a high school teacher for four years now and everything he says is the God's honest truth. Thanks Matt. We educators thank you. It pisses us off to no end how the media, the pundits, and the brain dead in this country take us for granted and call us out for things that are not only untrue but are absolutely insulting.

It's hard to teach kids if they don't want to learn. People want to blame the teachers. I can only imagine the ____ they have to deal with now with everyone having cell phones and internet access 24/7.

That's a big part of the problem. Cell phones should be prohibited just like Walkmans used to be prohibited back in the 80's and before. Cell phones are 10 X more disruptive than any Walkman could ever be.

What in the world did the kids hat have to do with him blowing cigarette smoke in your face? Answer: Nothing. You were out of line.

What should have done is take away his cigarettes. THAT would have made sense. Failing that, I think you should have been able to spray HIM in the face with a squirt gun or something. The hat was his personal property, and it really bugs me how people will try to punish others using things that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the offense for which they are being punished for. If someone blows poison in your face that causes cancer, you should have the right to zap him with a stun gun, because I think that is only fair. Unfortunately, I doubt that a teacher would be able to get away with that. Maybe bring back the dunce cap for kids like him? Maybe something even more humiliating than that...

The punishment should always fit the crime, or it is just arbitrary and nonsensical, and that ALWAYS causes other people to lose respect for you. They think, that jerk, he couldn't get me for what I did, so he makes something up to punish me with??? From that point on, they will be even more disruptive than before.
I remember when I had my Discman with me in my jacket, and an earbud style earphone, and I was looking at the art display in one of the halls BETWEEN classes, and this no good prick of a VP tells me to hand it over (it cost $340 in 1987 dollars, about $680 I would guess today) and I really didn't want to hand it over, but stupidly I did. I did get it back at the end of the day, but that wasn't the point. I wasn't being distracted from my schoolwork or ignoring the teacher's instruction or anything with it. I only listened to it between classes and during art class. I hate "people" like him. I wasn't being disruptive or loud at all where I was. I was just quietly standing there looking at the display. That no good, power hungry, ego maniacal, degenerate piece of trash.

another post that shows you live with your head in the sand. someone takes something from you and you do nothing, let them walk all over you. that's you. someone takes your possessions, lose it and you just take it. l can't stand push overs. l can also see you were the type of kid who would run from a fight right from the begining and tell mommy. she would come to the school and settle things for you. you also think Jay Leno is a Racist.:lol you really make me laugh.:lol

Not really. You didn't accept responsibility for your actions. You're proving that left and right. This above post is just more of the same. You insult people's ethnicity, sexual preference and religion, shamelessly thinking it's "funny" or "appropriate" and then call people hypocrites when they don't understand. And for the record, I never ran away from a fight, ever. I'd bet a C-note, if I took you out in public, you wouldn't talk this stupid ____ to people in real life because you know you'd get your face inverted.

haha. you really make me laugh. you need to redefine your term for racism. that taliban joke l told you in which you said it was a racist joke and l was a racist for laughing at it. l heard Jay Leno say that on his show. so you telling me he is a racist along with everyone in the audience who were laughing and the producers of the show for letting him say it in front of the world.

yesterday l was watching Seinfeld. guess he is a racist also. it was the episode were the dentist converted to being jewish.. the whole episode is about jewish and Catholic jokes. the guy said " l went to the gym and only stayed in the sauna. guess you could say l had a jewish workout". now is that a racist joke? if so then l guess everyone from that show are also racist. same with the people who laughed at it.

l could go on all day about tv shows, movies and comedians who talk about cultural jokes, but in your eyes they are all racist. right.

you say you have NEVER laughed at a joke about another culture you are a liar. everyone has at one time. even if you are some strict religious person weren't you young once when most things were funny. laughing at a joke about other cultures does not make one a racist. you are to dumb to understand that. even if it was an untasteful joke and someon laughed doesn't make them a racist. it might of been dumb for them to of laughed or ignorant to laugh at a bad cultural joke but that doesn't make you a racist. that has to come from the inside. not a quick reaction that results in a laugh. you dont wake up one day and laugh at a cultural joke you heard at work and say, "oh no, today is the day l became a racist, but l have dated women from other cultures, but l laughed at this one joke and l am now forever a racist". give me a friggin break.

to sum it up. if you think all this is racist then l don't know how you watch tv because cultural jokes are all over the tv, tv shows and comedy shows. if it was hateful racism then l wonder how it is allowed all over the TV? answer the for me please.

Teacher should've just done this... Then maybe you'd remember for next time.

The problem is that respect is not given-- it's something that has to be earned. Most schools do not allow the wearing of hats for two reasons A) a security measure as it can hide the face from security cameras and B) it's a respectful thing to do (removing your hat when you're inside). B is an older practice to be sure (just check out the next restaurant you're in or even for that matter the amount of guys who keep their ball hats on while a national anthem is being played, oblivious to the disrespect they are showing), but in reality the no hats rule actually allows for those rebellious youths to be just that, rebels, with their hats on. Oh, look at me-- I'm a rebel because I'm wearing my hat. Allow teenagers to be rebels with the hats and it's not something worse of being rebels with graffiti or vandalism, etc.

But you said that you often forgot that you still had your hat on. That meant that you probably were often reminded to remove it... and your constant lack of respect brought it to the point where your hat was taken. You're lucky you had the chance to at least get your hat back-- the fact/blame that it was lost/stolen lies with you.

I started by saying that respect is not something immediately given, but rather it is earned-- I can tell you that I don't ask any student to remove their hat a second time. I merely have to look at them and they remove it on their own because they respect me and I respect them. It sounds like you were a wild rebel-- congratulations on that accomplishment. It's too bad that respect was forgotten.

To sum it all up, you made a racist joke about jews and called me a hypocrite because I didn't find it funny. You're insensitive to the Muslims here on this board, spewing continual redneck dribble in defense of your ignorance and you said, and I quote, "I hate the fact that he calls himself a man" about a pic of a gay man. I dunno. Now, here, you're showing a complete lack of respect for school rules and think it's "cool" that you one-upped an authority figure because you were out of line and your hat was stolen as a consequence of your actions - i.e. if you hadn't had it on in the first ____ing place, breaking the rules, you'd still have it. Then you say I run from fights (clearly you don't know me :lol) and accuse me of having issues because I don't think you're funny and find your continual discriminatory posts pathetic and distasteful. Did I miss anything? :huh

Anyway, discussions over. You're not worth the infraction. :wave

hahah. see you put words in my mouth. how do you know that guy was gay. he had a purpal shirt and a sign that said clothe are fabulas. l took it as a guy who acts like a girls. you took it that the guy is gay. what l said meant l hate guys who act like girls. what does that have to do with him being gay. you have the problem. you're insinuating gay men act like girls and took what l said as bashing gays. thats your problem pal. l admit l should of worded it a bit different, but you are the one who brought gay into it, not me.

how am l insenitive to muslims. l have never said anything bad about muslims. tell me what l said that was bad. your just another idiot who think if a guy says something bad about muslim TERRORIST you think he is talking about all muslims. again that's your problem. not my fault you don't know the difference.

l didn't call you a hypocrite for not finding THAT ONE JOKE FUNNY. l said you are a hypoctite because you said you have NEVER laughed at a cultural joke before. of course you have, everyone has. l know everyone has becasue jokes like that are all over tv and the audience laughs. like l said your definition of a racist make almost everyone a racist.

if non hurtful cultral jokes are racist then i'm waiting for your answer on why they are allowed all over tv, movies and comedy shows. i'm waiting for an answer.:impatient:

l see your point as disrespectful. l wear a hat everywear. when wearing a hat all day everyday sometimes it's on and you don't even realize it. l do make sure l take it off in restaurants or were a hat is not needed. we can wear hats in school just not in the class room. l agree my fault for not talking it off. sometimes you walk in class then someone starts talking to you and you forget to take it off. then the teacher comes in just as you realize you have it on. then it's gone.

on the other hand she should of shown respect by keeping it in a safe place. and not let it get stolen. l showed her respect everyday by taking it off having my homework done on time, participate in class discussion. just because l forget to take it off once a month doesnt mean i'm a rebel and as bad as people who commit vandalism. if someone gets a parking ticket or speeding ticket once in a while do they deserve to get there care taken away by the government and not get it back.

anyway to sum up the story l had to give her the book back. that year we hated each other. l had her the next year and we became damn good friend actually. she actually came over to my house once for dinner. we started off rocky.:lol
