Maybe SS isn't capable of doing the armored figures justice. Maybe they're scared.

You mean they can't just get the gentle giant scans? Or you'd think that Lucasfilm would allow access to their archives and/or CG files to produce some exact duplicates in a smaller scale.

...bring on some more creatures :rock :maul ...and troopers of course :chew

Just need to wait..

Though not officially confirmed...I might share some words I learnt from a liable insider source while I was in Hong Kong last month:

Sideshow will start a new line on 12" SW action figure next year - The Militaries of Star Wars (As quoted in page 11 of Vol. 9 Sideshow collectibles booklet).

Different versions of Clone Trooper and Stormtrooper will included in this new line.

Also to Darth Vader of Sith line will introduced in 2007.

I won't split up more words of what the source is cause that will touch on business secret.

So guys...U have every rights by not buying my words and keep up all the Medicom ones but...

Do expect 2007 on SSC SW 12"! :rotfl

AWESOME NEWS!!!! :chew

I'd like to see more sith - someone like Asaaj Ventress who's outfit is very similar to the Jedi so there's not that much work would be a possibility to throwing out more "jedi". That said - I'm happy with Plo Kloon coming out this week and would like to see more aliens - anything other than "generic jedi" (which I don't believe we've had to date). While people have been complaining about too many Jedi - with the exception of Kit they've all been rather major players in the Jedi Knights.

No other way to describe this other than, AWESOME!!!

I really can't wait to get some Clones and Stormies. Gonna be an army of em.

I hope we get Darth Vader next year that would be awesome. Vader must be an inclusive edition unless Sideshow wants every server they have fried. I think if we see him we will probably get a ANH Obi-Wan too. I think next year will be the year of the OT for figures with just a few coming from the Prequels.
I hope we get some troops next year. I think a Stormtrooper should be the first release. Then I hope they use it to make a couple different Sandtroopers eventually.

I can only hope that we get either an ROTS or ROTJ Darth Vader with respective Anakin heads. It can be an interchangeable portrait rather than a three piece helmet for all I care. I just want to see one of those two versions!!

The interesting thing about the film saga and the OT vs PT debate is when you show the entire saga to someone who has not seen it yet, ever. My fiance had never seen ANY of the Star Wars movies. She was an only child and her parents were not fans of Sci-Fi, she said she'd catch it on TV from time to time when she was little, but she always skipped it. So of course, to cure this blasphemy.... I sat her down and had her remedy this immediately. :lol

And this was what I noticed. She LOVED the PT, especially ROTS. But she was bored to tears with the OT, except for ROTJ (those damn ewoks). She kept saying how the lightsaber battles were more fun to watch in the PT and that the story was more interesting to her. The OT movies were too old, but she did love Han.... as she's a HUGE Indy fan. :D

All in all, I'm glad she gave them a chance and that she enjoys my favorite film saga. I just thought it was funny to see someone's choices, sans nostalgia. I wonder what the next generation of kids will say.....

I would say that anyone who had not seen any of them that they would find the PT at least visualy more apealing but you don't really see the same impact as it had with my generation(Im 31). I mean 20 some years later I can tell you exactly where I saw all 3 who I was with. I can't even say the same for any of the PT. I can only say that with one other movie (ET) that was not seen recently.

True... The OT will always have the most impact on me as a student of filmmaking and as a moviegoer. I LOVE the characters and the story is timeless.

I for one am also tired of Jedi. I love Jedi but enough is enough..SS give us a break. The Star Wars universe is so rich and diverse...exploit it!!!

Cheers,

Brad

I think spacing out core characters that EVERYONE wants is a brilliant idea to keep the longevity of the line up. Sure, they could make all the core characters at once, and then spend the next three years making background characters, but a lot of the fun would be sapped from the experience.

The antici.................................pation! of seeing another core character brought to life by Sideshow is one of the things keeping the line going. Each one is a landmark, and each background character in between is a fun diversion, with great care and quality taking the fore with all of them.

I may not be stoked to see another Jedi, but I'd also be a bit worried if they released all the figures I really want at once! I'd go broke....er.

I was disappointed to see another PT Jedi announced especially after the OT figures revealed at SDCC but I suppose it gives my wallet a break as I'm sure there's plenty of OT goodness to come next year. More variety would be nice right now but for more complicated figures like the armored troopers and Vader and also a "real" fur Chewbacca I'm more than happy to wait until Sideshow get them perfect.

If you are going to count Salacius Crumb then there are 2 Sith, Maul and the Probes.

The probes wouldn't count. But there are 2 Sith...Sith Anakin/Darth Vader was packaged in a Lords of the Sith box. He's not from the Jedi line like Anakin was.

Im just saying that the probes are just as much of a figure as Salacius so if you going to count Salacius you need to count the probes. Neither of then hold much weight on by themselves, they are more like an accesory.
