Do we really need a Whedonville?

I never posted here besides this one but I don't think it should be closed & the poll is kinda irrelevant as well. Statements as to what they want & why would've been more conclusive than random amounts of people picking NO just for spite.

Exactly this poll is giving very skewered results imo. As many have pointed out people who don't care one way or another have jumped onto this poll just to try and screw this section over.

Quite pathetic really when you think about it.

I see a sea of people who don't care either way (who voted on both sides), a few people who want to see the section go (along with a few others, an even smaller few who want to keep it going, and one very earnest (slightly condescending and humorless) poster who is fighting for it to stay.

In the end I agree with OSCORP. The board has spoken. Set the place on fire. But in all likelihood Dave won't ever get around to actually deleting it anyway so.... :dunno

:lol

My last post on the subject:

My point in posting the list of people who have posted was to show that of the 79 people who voted "no" only one person cares enough about the section to actually try and defend it.

Now that is quite pathetic when you think about it. ;)

I've tried to present a few reasons to keep it. I don't really feel it needs to be defended beyond "those who use it, like it".

Does it need more than that? Isn't this place about providing space for people to enjoy conversations about stuff? Is the need to shoehorn things into 3 or 4 major sections important? Or is catering to the readers who benefit and use the space important?

I defended keeping it open. :dunno

I don't post here so I really don't have the right to say "close it." Honestly, part of what makes this place special (excluding the HT garbage), is the difference in interests. I don't like Dr. Who either, but if there were a subforum for it, I'd be supporting that too. Same with Tonners. I agree though that if this is closed, Indy should be next with LOTR to follow - new film or no, that's also on life support.

At this point reading through everything I'm more in favor of creating a Hot Toys subforum and throwing all HT threads regardless of license in there than closing Whedonville down. In the grand scheme of making things run smoother on these boards to me that's more of pressing issue.

I think 42% of people wanting the subforum to stay is reason enough not to close it.

I think out of 17,000 members only 180 or so cared enough to vote either way is more indicative that it's not a major issue or eyesore in need of closing.

I tried that, twice. :lol Despite the polls being landslidingly in favor of creating a HT subforum, all that made Dave wanna do is segregate 1/6 from everything else. :cuckoo:

Nah, imo hon. I find rather it pathtic that some folks who have never ever bothered to post here before want to try and spam a thread and try and close down a section that some of us actually give a damn about.

Well since I only average 1,000 posts per year, I don't see the need to beating the horse. Clearly this place appeals to a certain segment of the collecting community. If it doesn't appeal to you, I don't see why you ever venture in here.
I don't collect DC, I don't have any interest in going there.
I think its more about the fact that Whedon's shows are very distinct.

Seems like quite a lot of people are defending it.

I think quite a few members have and are defending it, myself included. :dunno

Honestly, I don't think I've read a good reason for it NOT to stay. Unless, of course, we're talking about the all so persuasive trolling scattered throughout this thread, in which case, I stand corrected. :lol

A EBay seller from France (kayajulian) has already seen (build) the (possible) future, if you vote with "no" and Buffy and Angel have to join the Horror section...
