With Toht, that proto to production arguement is over. We sat and watched the quanity go from less then 10 up and up to well over 100 and the low quantity meter dissapear.

It doesn't need to be a HT hand painted quality, but as cited, look at DID's paint work on there 1/6 stuff, same price as Sideshows, cheaper sometimes, so why can't SS match that quality?

The most they ever addressed this was in my QC thread where they claimed someone would soon be moved to the factory full time to monitor these things. Has that happened, will it?

These items aren't meant to be looked at blown up to 5 times their actual size. Most people are fine with how the final figures turn out.

But even HT is experiencing some issues with paint aps recently - look at the John Conner and Mk. 1.

I can agree on that. Looking at them on the shelf and they look fine.

But it would still irk me if I got paint like the Han at the top of the thread.

Give me a break, blown up or not there is no defending this Dave.

200$

Most people are fine? Have you been reading the thread? Yes there's some that turned out ok,(more sloppy than ok) but it seems to me most people are bummed about it and scared upon the arrival of their figs. And the last thing people want to be is scared and bummed about a 200$ price tag. There's just no excuses for SS when you're producing "High End" 1/6 collectibles.

NONE!

After a great Vader figure, this is a big let down.

(I just hope this is indeed isolated)

Blown up or not this is not acceptable or "HIGH END"

This is such a valid question not because SS always messes the paint up but because sometimes they really get it right. Old Ben is a great example of awesome paint apps for a production figure and so is Palps.

What's disheartening is that we get such a variety in quality and dip really low at times when obviously it's possible to get it right.

I don't think anybody is asking for custom quality paint but rather a consistantly good paint apps the same standard as Ben and Palps which is within reach of your capabilities.

spot on!

Okay, I am all for sideshow but that just stinks.

There's no defending the quality of those pieces. I got my Indy PF with the just out of sun bed look and SSC stated it wasn't a fault.

Same, tho mines more just out of a mud bath.

I don't what needs to be done, but something sure does need to be done. One shouldn't have to be worried about getting a good or bad paint job after spending hundreds of dollars, its the only thing really letting Sideshow down at the moment.

and its not just bad paint jobs, it's also the totally silly things that one just can't understand why it was done that way.
The ruby red lips on the Galadriel PF, so not film accurate, was it that hard to use a lighter/softer colour.
The black handle on Sting in the new Mount Doom dio, even if the silver vine pattern was too hard at that scale, at least the handle could be brown (like it really is).

There are many fine artists in India. If HT or others have taken all the best factories for 1/6th work in China, it might be time for a move in production.

So true my jabba display is worthy of prop replicas/maqute to me, but I just sent out my bespin Han for a repaint just so it can resemble Harrison Ford.

How did the Han repaint come out? Is it done yet?

Not sure how many factories SSC uses but Old Ben is the pinnacle of Star Wars figures if not Sideshow 1:6. The tailoring is great, the paint applications are impeccable for factory mass productions. Palpatine is a close second. Once those came out IMHO there isn't an excuse for all the paint apps to look as good if not better. Horrible paint apps are enough to get me to cancel a figure from all companies. Canceled out the John Connor from HT as well because the paint apps are subpar especially compared to the rest. I don't have the funds to get them constantly repainted so a lot of my orders are all pending in-hand shots.

It is sad that so many great sculpts just aren't given the great paint-work the deserve. I really hope they can eventually tighten this area up.

Oh yikes! That's a really sloppy paint job for something that costs THAT much!! And collectors shouldn't have to pay extra to get something repainted after shelling out that much. I would be devastated if that was what I received in the mail after waiting months and months for it.

Staring at his chameleon eyes looking at two different directions at one time is giving me a headache. :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

just got my PF terminator T-800. Lovely statue but the paint app on the front hairline is poor. Its a scandal with things costing this much.

Im just afraid to see what other lines SS will butcher in the future with some of these paint jobs their pumping out. I've said it 1000 times SS...if you keep it up you lose a customer for good. Address the problem...admit to it...then fix it!

Chris

Also the recent paint flacking on high end busts/statues are pure Fails.Do something Sideshow.
