I had to take him back out to get a pic of the base for return, so inspected it a little closer and found a couple of other areas of concern. they're not major areas of paint cracking yet, but I don't expect the paint situation to improve over time.

Also, on the all black curved underside of the base, I could see large bubbles that "moved" when pushed down on, clearly not attached to surface below. I didn't try to pick at them, but if I did I know paint would flake off.

Yeah, thanks for posting that pic Shropt. I'm sure my work appreciated it. I was surprised it wasn't blocked by the filters.

I think SS is doing a good job refunding these P.O.S.
I hope everyone gets the same service...and I hope they get ALOT of returns and lessons learned...HOLLOW = CRAP

This is why I prefer to e-mail about an issue as opposed to call. With an e-mail they can pass it around and say "what the heck are we going to do about this" and take a bit to figure the best course of action. If you call you get a customer service rep that is kinda put on the spot and handles it "immediately" which can lead to varying responses based on the person you are talking to.

As for the "one time courtesy return" I doubt they put a red mark on your account that says "Mesa already returned one!". She probably meant it was a special circumstance return as opposed to the normal practice/process.

Or they can just click click deleted.

I'm really worried about the Galactus bust I bought last month...a lot of money. I just hope I'm not hearing stories about that a few months down the road....
Also checked my girlfriends bust last night. They felt great and happy to report no problems

No leakage or anything?

;)

yeah thats probably the case.
I still think its nothing more than a different, possibly cheaper, primer issue.

THey dont know its bad until months down the road. At that point anything that bad primer was used on in the meantime is subject to flaking.

My understanding is it it might be even larger than that, I believe that due to the Chinese economy taking a hit SS began producing their items in different factories (i.e. the former factories shut down); and subsequently lost quality in the process.

That is all based on conversations I have had, and some reasoned assumption.

though i don't disagree with that, i have worked with several companies in the past that have dealt with chinese factories and one thing that most of them try to pull is to first produce a quality product for a cheap price and then once they're in the door they suddenly start to produce piece that are subpar, which usually means cheaper methods of production, or completely skipping a part of the production needed to insure a quality piece.

which in these cases is most likely the lack of proper primer or any primer at all needed for the paint to stick:duh in some cases the companies either just outright dropped the manufacturer or basically had to hire a quality control person to oversee the whole manufacturing process everyday or else they'd just try to pull the same shat again..
