I still have one 7970oc (amd's 680) running in another pc of mine but not realling gaming on it. That was my first expensive gpu. Upgrading monitor resolution or wanting 120+ frames per second leads to the dark side as I found out.

I already have a 144hz screen, but I don't take full advantage of it in most newer games with the 680sc, but it does a really good job over all along with my I7 4770k. I was hoping the next group of Intel cards would really impress more than the 9 series.

Ryse son of Rome is 5$ on Steam, and for that Price i can't complain. it's a blast ! especially with that kind of price

Stupid Nvidia's been purposely cutting support on Kepler cards to promote the 900 series. I saw benchmarks last year where the GTX 780 performed much better than this (the 3 GB of VRAM shouldn't be limiting factor at 1080p).

For my next GPU, I'm most likely going with AMD.

the last driver i did from nvidia 2 weeks ago locked my computer in a constant reboot and i had to use a system restore point to recover my pc. im afraid to update it again.

My pc has been acting up like crashing after a while or locking up and I was passing it off as nvidia drivers...after some troubleshooting i had a ram stick that was dying. Man i feel so much better knowing what it was. luckily after it was in a debug code loop on boot up i started testing the ram sticks. 1 of the 4 was bad. What a pain but glad it's solved and acting right. i tested all the ram slots on the mobo too to make it wasn't a bad slot and luckily it wasn't so easy fix, just running on 24 gb of ram at the moment which for my uses is still too much. My first ram stick to go bad.

Wow, I never even knew RAM could go bad. My PC's been locking up and freezing a lot in a few games. It goes to a yellow or green screen, and then the audio starts to lag, and fades out... like something's dying a slow and painful death. Don't know if it's a driver issue or something else.

I went back to a previous driver that never gave me any problems and that's helped the nvidia driver issues i was having. The fact that it kept acting up, just in a different way, had me perplexed until i troubleshooted the ram.

Guys, there's something I've been wondering. Do your processors downclock when idle? Last night, I overclocked my i5 3570K to 4.2 GHz with OC Genie II on my MSI Z77 G45 motherboard. But, it's not downclocking on idle. I have the MSI and Intel enhanced turbo features turned off.

There's another option to turn that off besides turbo feature...I forget what it's called. I have a MSI mobo also.

Oh wait, turn it to "dynamic" or "variable" mode I think it is instead of "fixed" mode. It's one of the options near the top on the OC tab. And make sure the power saving stuff is on...and C-state....intel speed step.

Damn ... so NVIDIA is coming out with their GTX 1080X-1070X series while AMD is doing their Polaris 10 GPU series; R9-490X-490.

Anyone planning to upgrade soon?

Man, thanks for the reply. I actually couldn't find those options in my BIOS for some reason. I ended up resetting the board to factory settings, and tried overclocking again, and the CPU still didn't downclock.

I think I'll need a new build soon...

Probably next year for me. From what I've read, it might be better to go with AMD for Direct X 12.

Yep, my trusty GTX 680SC has been admirable and still going strong, but I'm ready for an upgrade, especially as I'm hoping to get a higer res monitor soon once IPS 144hz screens become more widely available.

Been wondering, how quiet are your PCs? :lol Even though I've been using a Fractal Design R4 silent case, mine still sounds like a very low-powered vacuum. I've been thinking of removing several of the Aerocool Shark fans and replacing them with "silent fans" instead.

Anyways, I thought my PC was loud until I saw this...

Anyone play The Forest yet? I bought it yesterday, it's pretty amazing for an early build. Didn't really encounter any bugs. The building system is really thought out and in depth. I have the visuals set to medium and it's still really pretty.
