I've been using PC's for years but I'm seriously considering getting an Apple. Whenever I go to an electronics store I can't help but admire the great quality that I see. Plus everyone that owns one tells me they're great . I might get the Macbook Pro or the iMAC.

Get a iMac.

:rock The only problem I currently have with Apple is that they're still throwing a hissy fit and won't just admit that they need to support Blu Ray. Even if they don't offer it in their machines a simple software update that gives me the option of buying an external drive would be appreciated.

____ing Itunes.:slap

Now I'm leaning towards the 15 inch before I bite the bullet this morning. :slap

PC - they are cheaper, more power for less money, easily upgradeable and have more compatible software available - though that last pro is starting to not be the case necessarily.

As for people saying if you are into art/photo/video applications to go with a Mac - please explain why you feel this way? This is one of those things maybe that people repeat because they heard it elsewhere.

If you do a true in-depth comparison of software and hardware capabilities - the PC can do everything a Mac can do for less money, so what's the pros of a Mac for the "art" category?

I am not speaking out of school - I was in the printing business (color separation specialist) for many years and I have used them all. PC all the way (for me)...

Back when macs used PowerPC chips, the alti-vec acceleration could run circles around anything on the PC at the time. This was a huge advantage when using processor intensive programs like Photoshop. Eventually, Intel caught up (or Motorola and IBM fell behind) and that advantage went away. I'm guessing people still say "if you are a designer, use a mac" because designers, typically, aren't techie at all and would rather not have to worry about the hassles Windows presents.

That, or like you said, people are just repeating what they heard elsewhere.

Yup, it used to better, not these days though with hardware improvements and being cheaper of course.

Used to have a PC laptop but for my B-Day this year I got a macbook. I'm enjoying it a bit more than I did my PC much easier to use.

That's ultimately the reason I went with Mac.

This world needs a hero and in the night I will be there, somewhere there's crime, somewhere there's time.

Lift and a rock and you will find me!

This is what I hear 99% of the time when someone goes off on some anti-Apple rant. My friend's GF is so ridiculously uninformed about anything computer related always bashed my computer because "Oh, it's a Mac so it's only good for art stuff, and you can't do everything a PC can." She would always give me a blank stare when I requested examples of something I can't do that a PC could.

Isn't gaming suposed to be better on a Windows machine?

I play Plants vs. Zombies all the time on my iMac! :D

:lol Well then, you're set! :hi5:

I haven't cared about PC gaming in well over a decade. It's too expensive and too much of a hassle to keep up with. I'd rather just buy a console and be done with it.

And no, PC Weenies, that was not an invitation for you to post pics of your "wicked rad" box you "built yourself" for "really cheap".

I "like" to "use" "quotes".
