Lol...but I like more than 16 colors, and the touchscreen is more awesome than the joystick.

Well, bro you've got one on me...I have neither an iPad nor my old C64...:(

Speaking of Apple and Macs, news is Adobe is improving their flash support on Macs: https://gizmodo.com/5526846/flash-on-mac-just-got-more-tolerable

That was a annoyance when using my powerbook to interact with flash based media, it would bind my resources and things would chug. At that point I just said screw it and watched youtube on my desktop. :p

Ronald Jenkees says PC! :lecture

You must be some kind of magical wizard.

To be honest, this is the main thing that holds me back from gettign one.

Why should that hold you back? Seriously that argument eludes me. You don't act how others do right? I don't care what people say about Mac owners. Call me a snob all you want. All I want is something that works the same way it does when I bought it without have to do ANYTHING. If that makes me a snob and not a smart consumer then so be it. LOL!

^^^^^

And that's the main thing that pulls me toward getting one! :)

To be honest Maglor, the only people that've ever given me the "snob" attack are the ones that are insecure about the Windows vs. Mac situation.

I don't worry about what others think about me, but shrug my shoulders and go about my business. There are far more important things to stress about than what someone else thinks about my computer preferences.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Go to:
System Preferences--Trackpad ---and change your settings however you want.

And according to this article over time Macs are cheaper to own and operate in comparison to "Windows" computers. After the initial "shock value" sticker price you don't have to continually upgrade and protect your system with virus protection. Most people keep their Macs for 5+ years as opposed to others that upgrade every 2-3 years.

This is true. Money saved down the line, and your time is worth more than money is. So is the lack of frustration and stress that comes from owning a Mac! Looooove it! :rock

That's all I'm saying. ZERO problems with a mac. It's almost a given. ANY windows based computer that I have ever owned has needed some sort of work within a week or two. I'm mac from now on. That's not being a snob. That's being a good consumer. If I had to work on my fridge or TV once a week I would feel the same way.

I saw that

It's interesting that with the popularity of Apple that Mac's still have a pretty low market share.

It's the price. People don't want to pay for quality. Consumers expect the best product for the least amount. The least amount is key. They likely would rather pay a lower cost for a product that isn't as good. Me personally, I would rather pay for good service. That's why I eat at nice places and such with no complaints. Society sucks IMO. They constantly want the everything for nothing and just expect it. Life doesn't work that anymore.

Here's my simple problem with Mac's--

Mac's are the same hardware as what you get in a regular Windows computer. In fact, it's not that hard to install the Mac OS to a regular PC. The only issue is, the user agreement for the Mac OS doesn't allow for this, you are only allowed to install it on Mac brand PC's

So essentially, you're paying almost twice as much for a computer just to use the OS. It's like buying a laptop and then paying $800 for the OS. Which is just ridiculous. For someone like me, I want the most power and performance for my money, and that's why I use Windows.

If Apple would allow the OS to be installed on non-Mac PC's or licensed it to PC manufacturers, it would be way more popular, but of course then they wouldn't get to overcharge on hardware.

Exactly. I am a coder, film editor, and animator. Basically a multimedia student. Last thing I want to play with is maintaining the computer and tinkering with it, while I am tinkering with my ever upgrading software. No thank you! I rather just deal with the software and let the computer take care of itself. :)

That isn't being a snob. That is being smart. Calling us snobs are the kind of people who are uneducated and having nothing better to come up with.

I've been a MAC user for about twenty years. It's the standard machine for my industry of Graphic Design. I recently had to start using a PC as part of a new gig and it's just terrible.

I'd swear I can actually hear it wheezing when I fire up Photoshop, then it takes an age to find my way around the numerous drives. This plus the fact that no-one at the office goes online for fear of catching a virus. Not the kind of environment thats encourages creativity.

MAC all the way, OS and navigation is simply better by miles.

Who really cares what the market share of the Mac community is vs. the Windows users out there. Does it effect my machine or the luxury of being able to use it with ease? Nope. Does it mean I have less hackers or virus producers out there sending me crap, trying to attack my system? Yes.

I wouldn't even care if that share was a tad bit smaller, as long as they produce these great machines, and I can run them with ease and next to zero problems, then I'll simply tell you this... I don't care.

Funny, we in the DMT and Graphic Design department feel and understand your points of view. And we use and run on Macs. Oh sweet Marmaduke!

I see where you're coming from, but I feel this is a strongpoint for Apple's recent success. By doing it this way Apple has the same standard of building their computers across the board for every machine they pump out. When something breaks, they can be certain its from faulty hardware. Back when I was building Windows based PCs if something went down, it was a diagnosing nightmare sometimes when I had to figure out exactly what part went wrong...then, if it was still under warranty I sometimes had problems with that specific parts manufacturer claiming that something else caused the failure. This doesn't happen all the time for everyone, but it happened at least twice for me with motherboards and video cards.
