I use/have both and if I didn't get my Macbook for free, I would've spent my money on a normal laptop and saved myself some money. I don't do any fancy video stuff and Photoshop works just as good on my Sony Vaio as it does on my Mac as far as the things I do on it. I understand there's virus's and whatnot, but you probably where doing something you weren't supposed to be doing if/when you get one:lol

I'm a proud mac owner as is my family...

Oh, and I own a iPod Nano, wireless Mighty Mouse, and the shrunken down wired keyboard. I love my Apple products.

Alright guys I'm off to bed, but remember....its a user's preference on which OS is better for them!! If you're in the market for a new computer give them all a shot. Stop by an Apple store, or a Best Buy, and give Snow Leopard a shot!! Don't forget about that student discount!!! And you can check to see if your employer qualifies for an Apple discount too.

I guess...I mean, what person with any common sense even opens those?:lol

Might as well get an iPad while you're at it

No, that thing is a piece of crap, so was the Mighty Mouse. lol I use my Logitech wireless Lazer mouse with Darkfield technology. I could surf the internet off a person's forehead with accuracy! I'll say one thing, nothing beats Logitech's mice!

No spyware either? Have you ever had to defrag and spend hours "cleaning" things up?

Have AVG and that is all I need.

Oh noes, defrag!!!!

If Mac ever gains any decent market share in the world, they will have have virus issues. And when it does hit, that ____ is gonna be funnAy :lol

Mac are not imune to problems and not all PCs have issues. Visit your local Apple store and you will see up on their wall monitors the line of people waiting for repair service. Anything that runs software can fail.

Again I don't care about the market share. It doesn't effect my enjoyment on a Mac and what I can do on it. Next!

Next what?

Thread shouldn't be about which one people thinks is better. User whatever floats your boat and gets the job done. Neither one is better than the other.

Just to point out--I've used a Windows PC for at least 5 years without antivirus and have never gotten a virus during that time. The people who are worried about viruses need to learn how to use the internet.

And still, a main reason I won't ever switch to Mac is because 3ds Max is Windows only, so there's really no point. Although I'd expect at some time I'll get a Mac just to have one. But luckily I'm going into video game development where Macs are sparse so it's not a big issue.

In my experience, I have noticed that most of those people are waiting for instruction on HOW to use the software, not problems with it. ie: new Mac users needing tutorials on how to use iPhoto, iTunes, the OS, etc. Not that anyone with a brain should need much instruction, it's so freakin' user-friendly... but from overhearing a lot of conversations at the 'Geek Bars', that's what they've been.

Personally, I have never had to use any type of tech or repair service (or virus software) for any of my Macs (been using Macs for 6 years now and haven't looked back)... except once when I dropped my MacBook really hard on the floor and had to have it pounded back into shape and the outputs fixed :horror

Dang it, I said I wasn't gonna get sucked in... sigh... :sick

That's all I'm saying. ZERO problems with a mac. It's almost a given. ANY windows based computer that I have ever owned has needed some sort of work within a week or two. I'm mac from now on. That's not being a snob. That's being a good consumer. If I had to work on my fridge or TV once a week I would feel the same way.

How much did you pay for that Mac vs how much you paid for your PCs that supposedly had problems within "a week or two" of buying it? Point proven.

I win.

That makes sense to me. Even so, my hard drive on my macbook pro died and I went to the Apple store in the mall to have it checked out. They diagnosed it and repaired it in under 45 minutes while I was having lunch across the street....but I guess it is much worse than sending an HP back and being without a computer for 2+ weeks before you get it back.
