I should have never brought this thread back.:lol

It's no biggie. At the end of the day people need to make decisions based on what works best for them. A Mac works best for me. A PC may work better for others. No harm in that.

And I HATE the Mac OS. Can't stand it at all. It's annoying IMO and almost seems like a tinker toy vs a computer.

It's easy and intuitive. I love it.

I agree and disagree all the same. I'm sure you can build a wonderful PC. The problem is not everyone (myself included) can just do that. I make no apologies for not being techy enough to build my own computer. I also certainly don't apologize for not having the know how to make it work when something goes wrong with it. Which happens all the time on a PC without proper maintenance.

With a Mac I can do everything I want to do and have complete trust that it will work. Plain and simple. As I have said I have had my Mac for about two years and it works the same way it did when I bought it. I have had no trips to computer repair people nor have I spent any time in maintaining the computer (outside of automatic apple updates).

I have had multiple PC's in a 5 year period that all went to ____. That's what lead me in the Mac direction. From my personal experience I will NEVER go back to owning a PC again. Too much work!

I'm far to busy to try to figure out whats wrong with my PC when I want to do something simple.

Again, I agree with every word.

Well said. :duff

I would like to point out--on Alienware--those are probably the worst computers you can buy--ridiculously overpriced and they have the absolute worst customer support and tons of people have problems with them. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's great.

Anyways, I think the whole Mac Vs. Windows thing is going to be irrelevant--most people only need features you can find on stuff like the iPhone or iPad, and I think Apple knows this, Apple might be a really huge company now, but it's not because of Mac--not even close

I have to disagree again. Disney started all because of a mouse. Apple started all because of a Mac. To say otherwise is nuts.

That's very random

I'm saying the future of Apple isn't Mac--most people don't need most of the features that a full laptop or desktop provide. To say otherwise to that is crazy

So you are saying the iPad and the iPhone will make both Mac and Windows desktops and laptops obsolete?

It's not random at all. Without Mickey Mouse you wouldn't have Disney as it is today. Without a Mac Apple wouldn't be where they are today. It's very simple.

I never said otherwise--I'm talking about the future--not the past

In some ways--Most likely laptops will be replaced, but desktops will be left to businesses and schools since they are harder to steal or enthusiasts who like to have the extra function and power.

I never stated a price, I just mentioned computer making companies. You get the same parts, trust me. The use the same Intel processors in any prefab computer out there. They use ATI graphics cards, which again you can get in any PC. I am sure the RAM they use is some cheap-o RAM they toss in there since it seems pretty hard to find the exact type (leads me to believe it some off brand). The only thing that is custom that Mac seems to use in their iMac is their motherboard, which looks like most were designed or made by Intel, so it is pretty safe to assume it is similar to any Intel board.

I could build a computer cheaper and a lot more powerful with parts and brands that I know are MUCH more reliable and install their OS then anything I could get from Apple.

It is like paying for a Lexus exterior but getting the same Toyota engine in all their cars.

Though you cannot just buy a PC graphics card and install it in a Mac Pro. Sure the cards are more or less the same but the firmwares are different. If you install a PC graphics card into a Mac Pro it'll just black screen. You can run Windows but thats it. OS X wont know what to do with it and vice versa.

And I HATE the Mac OS. Can't stand it at all. It's annoying IMO and almost seems like a tinker toy vs a computer.

...and how long have you used it?

This is true. Though, I would amend it to say that it's the future of the PC, not just Apple.

I'd have to say Apple is where it is today because of OSX. They took a gamble with the iPod back in the day, and it paid off.

Most definitely. Apple was smart enough to start ditching their hardware platform because the know it cannot compete with an Intel based system. That is why Microsoft was King ( and depending on who you look at is King) because they realized early enough that the key is in the software, not the hardware.

I have to disagree with your comments on Alienware. Before I purchased mine about a year and half ago I compared what I was buying on Newegg and there was only about a $300.00 difference. I can't comment on the customer service other than I received it with no issues and I have never had to call them about anything going wrong.

I had noticed lots of people saying online they have had issues with Alienware, and then my animation professor told me about how he had some issues with the one he got and had to send it in--he got it back and it was even worse and it was a big hassle for them to fix it correctly

Since you guys can't stop bickering over who has the best system, I'm taking away all your toys and giving you this.......Enjoy!
