I can tell you it comes with a dust jacket and has some very good cover art on the front and back....I'm pretty sure this is Blackbeard's ship and you can see several people already hung on the top sails....

Yeah, that's the Queen Anne's Revenge, which might be the coolest thing in the film from a visual design standpoint.

first couple of pages from the art book....I'll post them in the art thread as well.....

It's just a good barometer of how a film is critically received. Nothing more, nothing less. I just find it interesting to compare the data sometimes.

See thats the thing. I could give a flip ____ less what critics think of movies. So I guess thats why I don't bother with going there. For me its one of those when these guys start buying my movie ticket I'll care what they have to say.

Nice! I may have to pick that up sometime.

I thinks 2 and 3 have issues but I still like the whole series and expect I'll really like this one.

I agree. There were parts of 2 & 3 that I really hated but also parts I really liked and overall I liked all 3 of them so I'm sure this one will be fine as well. I'm not expecting Gone with the Wind here I'm just expecing a fun movie.

Holey moley. It's like they're trying to one-up each other on who can trash the movie most: https://www.aintitcool.com/node/49684

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES is the awe-deadening nadir of studio tentpole filmmaking, a soulless reconstitution of marketable elements in search of box office plunder. As a perversely unsatisfying moviegoing experience, it calls to mind BATMAN AND ROBIN - though to be fair to Joel Schumacher's franchise-killing debacle, PIRATES 4 lacks the conviction to be that memorably tacky.

:google I didn't like this movie much at all, but I have to say that's a bit harsh.

I gave up on them when they thought A-Team was a crap movie but the New Karate Kid film was wonderful.

:monkey4

I liked the A-Team. Its not a great film but for me its really fun to watch. The New Karate kid is not wonderful at all. Its a nice movie but nothing special at all.

The only thing I can say I hated about 3 is the whole ship in the desert with the crabs scenes. That was dumb.

I still love and own them all though.

It sounds like you and a lot of reviewers look at pirates like Indy, first was lightning in a bottle and then progressing worse with each sequel.

Just KOTCS falls apart. I liked Pirates 2&3 (sorta on 3), I'll still check out OST, at least we get awesome LEGO sets and a DX!

That part was blach but I loved the first part with Sao and the entire part at Shipwrech cove and the end battle was fun (but a little long.)

I actually enjoyed the part in the locker probably the most since in there, the overthetop insane impossible stuff felt plausible. They are dead more or less afterall. But this was the oppurtunity to get this crazy stuff out and then go a bit more realistic for the rest of the time. But then they come back and its like it gets even crazier then what they were imagining when dead.

Really liked nothing about the movie at all from the point Kiera gives her lets go fight speach on the Pearl and they release Tia, it just all completely falls apart for me. Like no redeeming factors at all, I hate everything about the maelstrom battle.

See for me, the maelstrom is the highlight of AWE, I love the visuals, the music the fighting.

I'm also in a minority for liking Will and Elizabeth, it seems like a lot of fans were thrilled at their not coming back and wish they never were in the originals but I liked them 1-3. Though very brief, I liked Will pushing Davy Jones' buttons in AWE while meeting with Beckett.

Just saw the film - not as good as number one but I enjoyed it a lot better than 2 and 3 - much easier to follow. Barbossa steals it, he's deffo the best part.

Wow...to say a film is Schumachian is a definite low-blow....

Ouch!

I had concerns when I learned that Rob Marshall was the man who delivered "Chicago" and "Nine" and "Annie" and nothing else really.

This reminds me of the KOTCS reviews by the Freaks. Even those who were forcing themselves to be kind eventually gave up on it. Sad if this is the way of "Tides".

Clearly, this isn't going to be a great Pirates. Just another one.

People have been overly harsh on Depp in reviews for this film, but I think Entertainment Weekly nailed the problem with Jack Sparrow in this movie:

Jack, more than ever, is now front and center, the focal point of every scene, and the result is that he's become less of a jester and more of a colorless expository hero. He ticks off the story for us, point by point, instead of standing to the side lobbing little verbal bombs at it. Depp's delivery is still amusingly sozzled, but the performance has lost any trace of surprise or merry deranged zing. The more Jack says, the less funny he is.
