Although, I LOVED Barbossa's leg. :lol

"Where can I get one of those..."

That was brilliant. Jack and Barbossa MADE that movie.

The 3D wasn't bad, there were a couple of shots where it looked kind of weird, but overall it's probably in the middle as far as 3D goes. It's better than the converted movies that weren't originally planned for 3D, but it's not as good as the nice 3D filmed movies.

I can say though, the Transformers trailer looked awesome in 3D. Just from the shots in the trailer you can see they really designed it well for 3D

I saw it in 3D IMAX and there were some parts that were very neat in 3D. I enjoyed it a lot. I love me some Jack Sparrow. He had several great lines that made me laugh. I def think they will do another one. It's a cash cow and I think it has plenty of milk left.

Not awful. Not really good. Not a lot of action. Not terribly funny. Not too much of anything.

Disappointing villain and ending. Oddly unexplained supernatural powers.

Peneolpe didn't bother me so much but I felt someone else could have really relished that conniving seductress role.

I liked the beginning of the movie alright... things got tedious on the trek as expected... no real threat driving things forward... mermaids were OK, mostly because they had the only real set-piece in the entire 2nd act. Fun to see Gilette back, but missed many others from the series (Hello Poppet).

I enjoyed watching the movie first time through. Left forgetting most of what happened. I've gotten harder on it as I've thought about it. Final scenes felt very awkward, especially the last shot.

What's with the ships in the bottles? I didn't like that at all. What were Blackbeard's powers again?

Last thing: I hate that King George characterization.

A little tough on the beav tonight? :lol I mean it wasn't a great film but I don't think it was that awful either.

I just hate films that are boring.
Some films can be a mess, with a storyline that makes no sense, but can be saved with some good set pieces. This has one, the mermaids.

They could not even think of a good ending, so they stole one from Indy

I know. Nothing about Blackbeard was explained. Where did he get the sword? How could he shrink ships? Had he come back from the dead? I mean this is the main villain, and they could not even be bothered to give him a back story. It was like, "Oh he's Blackbeard, that's good enough. We don't need to explain his back story"

Can't agree on the boring. However, I can agree they didn't handle Blackbeard well at all. As I said the way they did the character sucked. They did as you said tossed him up there and said you should be scared. Not really a good reason.

I loved Pearl. Thought it was a fun pirate adventure movie. OST was average. 6/10

On the way home, the wife just mentioned she liked the mermaid/preacher story and that was about it for talking about the movie. :dunno

I would agree. I like Blackbeard, but too many questions.

On thing that bugged me about the whole series, Jack is shown sword fighting toe to toe with the movies big bad guys, kicks people off, punches them, survives everything, yet is a coward.

That;s just Jack's style...he did kill Barboosa, and Davy Jones....he clearly says in the first film to Will "Now that doesn't give me much of an incentive to fight fair now does it." Jack does what can to stay alive until the most opportune moment and then he strikes...

Yup, I think since the first film they've been clear on Jack, he will avoid fighting but if he must fight, he is quite skilled. Jack is not a typical pirate like others in these movies, thus why Barbossa mutinied. Jack's approach to stealing is sneaking and conning, where Barbossa or Davy Jones or Blackbeard would just kill you and then take what they want. Like in Curse, Jack wants to negotiate to get back themedallion and Barbossa just plans to kill them all and tells Jack his passive attitude is why he lost the pearl.
