The soundtrack is good. They use a lot of previously established themes in this. A lot of callbacks to the At Worlds End score as well. Ample use of the pirates theme, but not overdone. In fact I found myself smiling and tapping my foot when it pops up in this film. It's used very well and at the most appropriate times.

As is often the case, the commercially released score focuses on newer cues I'm sure. I love the music from what I'm sure is the end of the movie, perfect mix of a variety of past themes.

One simple question, does this movie have a classic Jack intro scene? That's something I look forward to in each movie, the first time we see Jack. I was in hysterics when he shot the bird from inside the coffin in Dead Man's Chest, I didn't expect him in there at all, I was lost as to where things were going with the coffins dumped at sea.

They're advertised by this as the last adventure for Jack, could this be?

The ads say the final adventure begins, I believe a trilogy is planned, dependent on the success of this film or not, but I don't see the series going beyond two more films and then hang it's hat, or try to carry on with different pirates and no Jack, but I highly doubt a Pirates movie would succeed without him.

Yes. I laughed when it happened. :lol

I won't hype it up too much. But he has a great entrance in this. It's one of my favorites now. I always look foreard to the Jack entrance in every film as well and this one delivers.

I think his intro you can see coming a mile away.

His first set-piece (and reveal) is OK -- typical big, loud, crazy.

But the 2nd one is brilliant -- the guys who have seen this know the gag I'm talking about. Please don't say it. That had me laughing madly.

You do see it coming, but it just keeps snowballing in a great way :lol

His 2nd gag is indeed done well (if we're thinking of the same one). The visuals of that could have been really tricky and ineffective, but they nailed it. I was consistently smiling through the whole segment.

YES! Exactly. Round and round -- it was hilarious!!! The best sight-gag since Sparrow sprung across that crevice on his bamboo pole.

I really enjoyed the very opening of the movie, but that gag was when I fell in love with it.

you guys are building my expectations to this very high- hope i'm not too let down but it sounds like a win- box office will be interesting on this to say the least..

Here's a question why did this release a month early..where they afraid this would compete against SpiderMan :dunno

Probably. They're both Disney films. Why cannibalize your own box office, ya know?

Like Wor said...Breeeeathe. Looooower those expectations. :lol

No, no, no.... breathe....

There's some bad scenes too. I think. I don't really remember any now... but I'm sure someone will point them out. Soon.

Wedding comes to mind...

I saw this again tonight, and for some reason I liked it a lot more than my first viewing. Like, a lot more. I loved it, and it's a darn shame the official toyline for this movie sucks. :monkey2

GOTG , they weren't sweating it

GOTG might have a million + fans but Spidey has a billion, zillion, trillion ..infinity

Most people I've talked to were more excited for Guardians than yet another Spider-Man reboot. I think the re-reboot is going to play against the film, which is why they threw in Iron Man to help sell people on it being at least a little different this time.

Still, odd timing for Disney to release two huge summer blockbusters not only in the same month but also at the start of the blockbuster season. They easily could have given the three films their own month.

Going to this tomorrow and I can't wait, glad to hear it's back on track after OST. I rewatched that the other night and forgot how much I didn't remember that movie. For some reason I didn't think Gibbs was even in it :lol

Well, as a diehard POTC fan love these films. That said IMO there are places here and there that could have used more building or depth, the younger characters while good IMO don't have quite the same impact as Will/Elizabeth, there are some lines IMO that could have been improved, and so on.

At the very worst IMO tho can't see not giving this a very solid B and I would put it higher than that. So many things are just done right, it's lush and scenic - Depp, Rush and Barden, pirate ships, rum - and some really funny scenes.

Just got back from a second viewing and think I enjoyed it even more - audience was laughing a lot anyway.

Didn't think to ask and now one has mentioned, how noticeable is Paul McCartney's role? Does Teague make a surprise return again?

Don't know if this is a spoiler but:
Cameo. He's good but a cameo. Sat through the credits and from audience comments a lot of folks didn't know who it was until reading. No, unfortunately.
