I rented that lego batman flick a few weeks back, it was horrible.

Unlike most, I don't automatically downgrade it because it uses LEGOs, but it was easily the biggest letdown of the whole year. That it got a higher RT score than Pirates 5 is sickening, IMHO.

That's what they need - The LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Movie. :lol

Yup exactly, DMTNT is almost right on the money except for a few instances that you listed. Gore is a very "on location" director, and same goes for Bruckheimer's philosophy as well, so they will always be the best looking of the pirates IMO. Something the last 2 haven't quite hit. Though, DMTNT is a big change compared to OST.

OST suffered from a director whose background is dramas set against very tight sets, but POTC begs for helicopter shots and such building grand landscapes that establish the world, which is exactly the big piece DMTNT brought back. The bank heist spanned half a town, the ship scenes took place near land masses instead of open water and were bigger action sequences instead of mostly exposition scenes, just a lot more of what was great about 1-3.

Keira Knightley got paid to be a mime, I think it would have been cool to have a quick line from Jones, "Mr. Turner..."

Cheaper than a CGI Keira I'd imagine. :lol

Any dialogue would've been cool

Mr. Turner

Do you fear death...

A Davy chuckle/laugh.

Or just have Will wake up and see Davy rocking in a chair in the corner, puffing on his pipe and he says "good mornin, sunshine" *lightning flash* cut to black :lol

...I need the next movie already :lol

I'm just eager to get the BluRat/Digital, so far all I see on the net is the same mediocre bootleg I already have, a movie about Pirates is turning out one of the least pirated films, apparently no one cares about this movie enough to take a risk lol.

The return of Jones wouldn't open a lot of "how" questions to answer and could leave doors open for another Barbossa resurrection.

Not Pirates 5-related, but I think it's absolutely criminal that they cut this extended dice game from Dead Man's Chest (2:41 mark)... So many memorable lines from Jones in that one scene. Jones is still the most memorable villain of the 2000's for me, but damn - some of his lines here are like poetry.

I remember this. I like his measure of a mans soul line (which I see is in your sig) :rock

It's obvious they did it for pacing. The dice scene is pretty long, any longer and they risk it dragging. (not to me though, I love everything about the scene and wish it was longer)

For me, the edit also makes the dice game clearer. I understand it would have been a lengthy scene, but it's like, you're determined to include this unusual dice game the average viewer won't know, then edit it in a way where the game makes even less sense and hope people just focus on the bet and not the game. All around fail for cutting it.

I had no idea what was going on in the dice game when first seen in theatres!! "Four Four's , Five Four's...WFT!!!" I know now and I love all Pirates movies!!

Great extended scene -- its fun to see new Davy stuff from the actual time.

But they made the right call on the cut. Besides the fact that its repetitive to have Will get the better of Davy in two games. They had to choose one, and made the right call.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 May Depend On Pirates 5 Home Release

Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has indicated that possibilities for a sixth Pirates movie may hinge on how well Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales performs upon its home release. Dead Men Tell No Tales received generally weak reviews and underperformed at the domestic box office, becoming the first Pirates film not to crack the $200 million mark in the U.S. Worldwide the film has grossed $792 million, ranking it fourth-highest in series history, well behind the last three installments.

Originally it was reported that Pirates 6 would film back-to-back with Pirates 5, but after the fifth film’s somewhat disappointing box office returns, some wondered if Disney would go ahead with any further plans for the franchise. In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, series producer Jerry Bruckheimer indicated that plans for Pirates 6 could still go forward if Dead Men Tell No Tales does well enough in its home release:

“Well, I hope we can continue to make it, but you know we’ve been having so much fun just promoting this one right now that we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it’s very successful on DVD as the other ones have been. Then hopefully we’ll sit down and see where we go.”

It doesn't solely rest on DVD/BR sales, it's just a measure of the entire success of the film, from box office to home release.

I know that Disney is full of billion dollar franchises these days, but this made what, somewhere between 6-700 million worldwide in theaters, that seems like a success worth continuing to me.

The good news is, it's not totally written off like no sequel would come no matter what, which marketing for 5 would have you believe.
