Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

So whaddya think Josh? Was this the first POTC figure you've gotten?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

No, I've got Jack V1, Swann, and Will. Jones is pretty cool. Heavy as all get out for a 1:6th scale figure and he smelled like plastic. He's pretty cool and I'm glad I have him. I like how shiny he is and it fits with the character of course.

One more doily for the collection!

He looks great! I can't wait.

Someone mentioned the hat is oversized -- is that true?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I tried to and nothing. I can't tell if it is a paint rub-off/scratch or a paint transfer/slop. Either way, its not coming off.

So here is hoping the replacement will be better!

It might be paint rub-off...I can't see the depth of it in your photos but I can tell you that on one of my HT v1 Jack Sparrow's I got from Sideshow a long time ago actually had some of the paint rub off from his boot onto the plastic window. I saw it when I opened it up.

Ironically, the mold color underneath was a flesh-tone similar to that in your photos.

I did end up getting a replacement. Sideshow offered me a new boot but I was keeping this Jack MIB so I asked for a whole new figure. I believe Sideshow does indeed check replacement figures. They certain won't pull him out of the box but I'd assume they'd take off the foil sleeve and give him a once-over to make sure he looks 'ok'.

He's a nice looking figure. Him and Will are my two faves that I have. Jack and Swann outfit wise are nice but a little bit of a let down to me skin wise (Jack especially).

Maybe a little? It fits pretty well on his head and doesn't look odd to me in hand.

Thanks thats good to know. I know it is a very minor flaw, but its really more the point of the thing than anything. Why have a flawed figure, when I can get a perfect one?

Plus I imagine Sideshow would just paint over it and send it to someone else afterward.

I don't think Sideshow does that sort of thing.

I think they in fact right it off as a loss or whatever, maybe get some money back from Hot Toys and use the damaged figure as spare parts for those that need replacement items like perhaps the sword, bendy hand, sheath, hat, etc.

i kid, man. i kid.:lol

It sits a little loose on his head, but I'd prefer that over too tight like the Freddy Krueger hat you can't use :lol Also it looks great on his head, so no issue for me.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Well this is most certainly unorthodox. I have the third highest post count in this thread with well over 100, and yet I still don't have a figure from this series in hand.

DAMMIT! GIVE ME JACK!!!!!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yeah I keep waiting for my notice from toys2 for Jack and Davy any day.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hi all,
Any one have a outter coat that came with the first Capt. Jack (Hot Toys) for sale or trade. Have a bunch of boxed figures.

Thanks,
Brent

I don't find it oversized, the opening is wider than his head, BUT, there is a perfect indentation shaped to his head inside, so if you push it down enough, it stays on him, perhaps some people don't realized it and if you don't, it will flop around on him.

After having him a few days, I'd say Jones is my favorite figure in the line, tied with Jack Sparrows, he's just so cool looking and the figure allows him to look like badass Davy Jones.

You overexuberance related to these figures has been your undoing... next time try to be more negative, or indifferent and see if it makes a difference. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised :lol

How can you tell how many posts you've made in a thread?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

christ, i got 79 posts in this thread?!?! what did i all say?:dunno

LOL!!! HAHAHA! Love that first line. I have like 120 posts whinning about when I'll get the Jack figure. Oh boy... I wonder when I finally get it, I just go, "meh" and shrug. Reason is, as Gal pointed out, my overexuberance for this piece may take a lot of fun out of it, when I receive said piece in hand.

I'll take a page from your book Gal... I don't think I'll get Jack. It's not even that impressive when you look at it. I mean it's not even real blood on the toe neckless, and you can totally see the seam around his neck and around the collar bone. Also, 130 US is a lot of money for a glorified Ken doll.

P.S. Woah, check this out! Some nerd has 426 posts in this thread! :google
