Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

looks to me with the release of POTC and all the recent earthquake activity pointing to the rising of a new island and the creatures that look like Jones will walk/war among us again

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Guess I am in the minority. Of course, CotBP is my favorite, but then I prefer AWE to DMC. I found DMC to be more disjointed than AWE, and I like Jack better in the last movie. In DMC, he seemed more comedic in a wimpy sort of way, especially on the island. At least in AWE, he seemed more capable (well, except for the goofy scenes in his head) and was able to take on Davy Jones one on one rather than running scared. But don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all three movies and would look forward to another movie with ol' Jack should they decide to make one.:wacky

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

As a major POTC fan....I dont want a forth.....its over kill. But i'll see it anyway...heh.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I think I fourth film that centres on Jack, rather than Will and Elizabeth would be rather good. I'd like to see more of Mr.Gibbs' character as well, he was a great character but all he did was exposition, he needs to be expanded on.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hi, a quick question.I recently purchased all the necessary items to make another coatless and hatless Jack so that I can have another Jack with the smilling sculpt. The only problem I have is that I can't find exactly how to tie the red and white sash.I remember a lot of posts ago a scetch someone made but I believe that was for a real life made sash.So if anyone had undressed and redressed their Jack or where in the same position as me, it would be very helpfull if they could share their kwnoledge with me.Thanks

I can't right now, but when i get home and can look at my Jack and get all the details of my method right, I'll let you know.

There's plenty of ways you can go about it, I got pretty picky and studied several film photos trying to find a way to as closely match how it was done in the films.

One thing I'd suggest up front though, soak the sash in water and ball it up in your hands and roll it around between them for a couple minutes and then let it dry. This gives it a more beaten, worn, used feel instead being all ironed looking and perfect out of the box and doesn't damage or ruin the sash in anyway.

I'd also suggest holding that off until you get a tutorial on wrapping the sash on Jack, and then use elastics or string or something to hold the sash in place while it dries on the figure. My sash technique uses his belts to keep the thing in place and all, and since they're leather, you don't want to wrap them against soaked cloth. But letting it dry in place and folded as it should for the final result helps, it'll hold place and keep the shapes you want it to best.

I think it was mentioned last year after AWE came out that they were thinking about a fourth with Jack, Mr. Gibbs and the rest of the crew chasing some treasure. Maybe pick up where the third one ended which is great news (if true). But what made it even better was that Elizabeth and Will wouldnt be a part of it :)joy :banana :joy)
I like all 3 movies (except for Elizabeth and Will) and i hope they make a fourth one soon.

Ok, thanks for that info.I'll be waiting for the rest.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

A Hot Toys PIRATES line with Will, Elizabeth, Sao Feng and Davy Jones figures but no Barbossa = EPIC FAIL.

I wouln'd say epic, epic would be like a line with Will, Elizabeth, Gibbs, Pintel and no Jack, Davy and Barbossa.

The kick in the nuts to collectors of this line is they hit every core character from the trilogy except Barbossa. Like them or hate them, Will and Elizabeth are core characters in the story, and of course Jack and Davy are. Barbossa is the only major missing piece, so his absence is total WTF. If they never make him, this line is definitely a failure, for now it's just on a downward slope to that, but I wouldn't say it's epic failure.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I think most would have been much happier with the Elizabeth figure if she looked like a pirate and not Hop Sing. I would have preferred her in a dress to this incarnation.

agreed. I have Will, Jack and Elizabeth, and she really doesn't fit so well with them. She should have been in her DMC pirate costume.
would the Tonner outfit would fit on the HT body?

Tonner High seas Elizabeth. the outfit is good but the likeness sucks

I see what you mean. But it's certainly an epic failure for those of us who can't stand the Will and Elizabeth characters. And there is absolutely no excuse for having a figure of Sao Feng but not Barbossa, who is arguably even more important a character than Davy Jones.

Bottom line, if Hot Toys were only to produce 2 characters from the trilogy as figures, most of us would probably choose Jack (duh) and Barbossa. That they produced four other figures (5 counting the additional Jack) but not Barbossa = FAIL. Period.

At least IMHO. :D

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I agree that Jack and Barbossa or Jack and Davy Jones are the 2 combinations that could represent the series in 2 figures, Barbossa more than Jones as he's a typical pirate.

As for the Tonner doll comment, it'll never work. Tonner figures are larger than 1/6, and HT Elizabeth is a midget figure.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

shame about the tonner outfit.
anyhow,...why were there 2 Sao Fengs figures released and no Barbossa? It's a crime I tell ya, a crime.
