Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Captain Jack has been added to The Green Dragon Photo Archive!

Are some people getting boots this light or is the photo doing that?

JackSparrow36.jpg

If they are that light, seems like from the first production run to the second they corrected the boots, but it seems like some batch 2 had darker skin so I'll take the darker boots for a fairer skin tone.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Mine's boots are fairly light, maybe a bit darker than that picture, but still lighter in color... Mine has the dark skin tone.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Very nice.

Man though, the more I look at him with other figures, the more Jack looks like a freak, he's way too tall. I hope somehow cannibal Jack is shorter. He's a greatly made figure, but having him with other figures in the line makes me wish he was a standalone piece like Medi did.

How far do his legs go into the boots. Maybe that is what makes him so tall?

That could help some. The issue isn't how tall the figure is persay, he's no taller than a typical Sideshow figure. The issue is his height relative to other characters. Jack/Johnny is short, about as tall as Elizabeth. If the figure were as tall as say the Sao Feng, he'd still be taller than Jack, but better than the body he is on, it just makes him tower over the others and when a short character is the tallest, it stands out a bit. It seems like the Sao Feng may be on a slightly smaller body.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I just finally futzed my Jack... Will be finally repainting him soon.. I will be sure to post pics when I do. :D

I like it sooo much better now, just with the clothing issues fixed.

Look forward to see just what you do with Jack Josh.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Looks like they changed more than that then. Not only are the boots lighter, the vest is the proper shade of blue and the pants are grey instead of brown.

My Jack's pants and vest look the same color as the image, just the boots got much lighter. If the boots are lighter on Cannibal Jack, I'll probably use that figure as my main Jack and make my current one the Cannibal one cuz at that point the focus is on the cannibal stuff, not the figure as whole.

It's got to be the picture. Granted, paint apps always vary on figures, so maybe the boots are a tad lighter...but my Jack in some photos (with flash or lots of light) has the same color boots. And in some photos, my Jack also looks to have gray pants, although as I look at him now on my desk they look brownish.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Ugh. lack of funds caused me to have to cancel the DMC Jack Sparrow....still keeping Will but there is too much coming out right now to justify a repeat character as of yet.....and to think originally I was going to buy two Jacks! :lol

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

So for all of you guys who were clamouring for a Davy Jones, check out the Hot Toys website: https://www.hottoys.com.hk/

It looks absolutely fantastic. I, who wasn't going to bother with this figure, am definitely getting it.

Now for Barbossa and hopefully a Spinetti and his mate!
this news is so good i've given it its own thread

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'm going to cast my vote now, this will be THE figure of the year for 2008, the detail, the functionality, the accessories, competition's over, I don't know how this could be topped.

And Wookster, please just post that stuff here, I started this thread to consolidate everything, harder to keep up with all the good conversation with individual figures having their own threads.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

My favorite figure line ever: The Hot Toys Pirates figures.

I hope this line just keeps going, and going, and going.....

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Looks good but I want to see the range of articulation, like can he actually HOLD the pipe to his mouth and such.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

OH.....MY.....GOD.... :google

I really didn't think it would be possible... The detail, the bendy tentacle hand, the clothing.... it's all so damn perfect. :monkey2

This gives me hope for the SSC/HT team up, maybe it will help elevate SSC's game. Because HT is THE show to beat out there now, they are innovating and bringing the ruckus all over the 1:6th toy world.

Figures like this give me hope for a 1:6 Chewie or Grievous, and the armored SW characters. Figures like this are a must own, simply for being a MILESTONE. :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yup, in terms of quality I think HT has set themselves as THE company, they're just pulling out all the stops and rolling out some fantastic stuff. Like Medicom though, the one thing that hurts them, or at least collectors, is the price. I'd love to own all of HT's stuff in the properties I like, but at an average of $120-$130 nowadays, I'm forced to be selective, I wish they were more in a Sideshow range, I'd have so much more from them.

My biggest thrill from this, he can hold the key, the chest opens with a heart inside, and best of all, he can hold his sword and I can finally recreate the Jack-Davy duel, my favorite sword fight in the series. Very exciting news. I bet this makes Sideshow's Toy Fair news.
