Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yeah, I would expect this one to be pricey. Closer to $200 than $100 for sure.

"You will not forstole my Judgement"

I cannot wait for this guy!!!!!!!!!!!
He looks amazing and I really hope that paint stays with us! It"s perfect.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I don't suppose we could expect a Tia Dalma figure from this line, could we? Obviously we need Barbossa first, but she would make an amazing looking figure.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Well I always wanted Tia Dalma. Give me her, Barbosa, and Capt Teague and I'd be pretty staisfied.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Do you fear death?

I'm in for Tia Dalma. She was wicked cool in DMC.

Now with Jones, I gotta get a good line-up:

Davy Jones
Hector Barbossa
Jack Sparrow - got the orginal but I need that new smilin' Jack head
Will Turner - DMC gear
Eliz Swann - DMC pirate outfit
Tia Dalma

And I'm out. Maybe Maccus or some Dutchman Crew. I'd love 'Greenbeard' -- the seaweed man if you didn't know -- but he's so background I doubt he'd get made.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Originally I would have said no, but hitting up the Disney Store a couple of days ago to buy my Niece a birthday gift I noticed that they had Tia Delma action figures and quite a few. Its a safe bet that if this line continues further that we just may get a Tia Delma, it'll give them a chance to do the rubber skin with a female but I have a feeling the next offering will be a Barbossa and an Elizabeth variant probably from DMC.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

This figure will definitely be $150 or higher, Jack costs about $130 and this definitely took some engineering work and isn't something you can recycle down the roard. I'm not sure about his coat restritcing articulation, it looks to me in one of the images like his shoulders are separate. Since it's a one time use body, you can sculpt clothing onto the arm, so I think it may be a ball jointed shoulder, and having their Aliens, I can guess the joints will be well hidden if that's the case. I can't wait til it goes up for sale to get an estimate on release date.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

According to Wook's post its set to be released Q2. That means April through June. So are Jack and Will...

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'd love to see Tia done, but I'm gonna guess that that Davy will sell out quicker than Led Zep come back tickets, and he's a tough one to re-do, as there just aren't many variants other than with his human face so I'm hoping we'll get some cursed crew (hammer head et al!).

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Odd, the HT site says Q4 release date.

As to articulation, the HT site also says "20 points of articulation" which is less than the usual 30, so yeah the molding will definitely hamper the poseability. I don't care though. He's mine!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Awesome, guess I was just drooling over the pictures too much :) Good thing is, Hot Toys rarely misses release dates, so if it says Q2, that's pretty much a guarantee. I wouldn't mind if Jack and Will were like April and and Davy June, just to spread the cash out.

Right now on the product page it says fourth quarter, which would be fine for me, gives me time to get the money over summer.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

This really is going to be an amazing figure... and no matter the cost a must have.

Now onto Barbossa :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It's a rubber body suit (if no one has noticed yet). You can see the glued line on the right arm and the wrist and arm of the HT body underneath.

I was hoping for mixed media, too, but doesn't looked like it would have worked so well with all the detail.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I gotta stop coming into these threads, I'm starting to want Davy. :monkey4

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread
