Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I swapped Jack onto a Slim and swapped out the HT coat with Medicom's, other than that, the rest is what came in the box.

Medi's coat better than the HT one eh? Any reasons why ?

Thanks really appreciate your help

I prefer the Medi coat because even though Medi and HT got the color wrong, Medi black is closer than HT chocolate brown. The material is more accurrate on Medi as is the overall tailoring.

If making the switch so a slim, the Medi coat is the better fit.

As for slim or narrow, slim has perfect Depp proportions wiith all the gear on and the HT heads.

Wonderful thank you very much Maul I will certainly be taking your advice on the slim and Medi coat :wink1:

Now to find a Medi coat seperated :cuckoo:

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

You'll have to wait, but if you're sourcing parts for this now i'd wait, the new Jack might have the best coat of all, and possibly a unique and better body.

Stupidly I will probably still upgrade certain pieces but picked up a Medi coat for a great price so it is worth doing over the short term

Really appreciate your help and hope to post pics in a few weeks :)

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I hope we see some HT DX Sparrow pics soon. This would be the only POTC figure I'll buy.

Is this yours Sean?

Yup, that's the AWE Jack clothes, except the coat, on an HT slim with the smiling head and Medi jacket.

Thats a great Jack! I honestly didn't think the hat could ever sit that low, always looked so high to me and wondered if that was a flaw but seeing yours definately looks awesome! I did wonder if that was the Medi hat for a better fit

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

No, Medi's hat is smaller, you'd have to heat it up a lot and really soften it to get it on an HT head.

I'd wager ones where the hat looks too high is a case of the owner not pushing down enough. Gently plopping it on, it looks like crap, so I force it down good to look right.

Cool stuff! Thanks for all the advice Sean it has been much appreciated

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

No problem, I'm quite into Captain Jack Sparrow.

I can see that bud

I loved COTBP & DMC but hated AWE!

I have been wanting a Jack for a long time but never been super keen on the sculpts but then this came along

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Wow, that's a great sculpt of a serious Jack, if HT's AWE looked like that, the expression still would have been fine. While slight smirth might be most ideal, even stern is fine as long as the Depp likeness is solid, which Yulli didn't have for 2 out of the 3 Jack portraits she did.

Yes absolutely! They have all been slightly off imo but your smirking Jack is certainly the best I have so far!

All I need is a slim tt and I am complete, you dont happen to have a spare for sale do you Sean hahahaha

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

The best HT sculpt is the cannibal one, though too specific, and you hate to remove the cool cannibal makeup for a clean head.

I'm riding a lot of faith on HT getting it right finally with the DX Jack.

I hope at least one head, since we might be lucky enough to get 2, has the likeness quality of what you've posted with this expression. That would be the ultimate Jack Sparrow head for me, serious, which he is, with a slight smirk of cockyness too. It's what HT was going for with the spare Cannibal Jack portrat but they missed, it looks more like a fully smiling head than smirking.
