Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Garth and Goliath was awesome! Still remember the scene of Goliath and Kitt going head to head!

And I'm keeping Davy, but I didn't have any interest in owning the other figures so far (except for the original Jack).

If I had too drop something, pretty much anything gets the axe before SW. But right now I still think I can swing this too. But Reservoir Dogs are looking mighty mangy these days :lol

The Dogs bit the dust for me last week:lol

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yeah, I haven't axed them yet... I'm interested in how large the regular edition size is. I have a feeling they might be really cheap later on, and honestly the exclusives on these are not that great.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'm surprised that HT did NOT announce Barbossa for ToyFair... nor ALIEN or Predator.

:monkey2

Well, interestingly, it seemed like they unveiled nothing new at Toy Fair, even the Rambo bust Sideshow sold was heard of some time ago. Does anyone know from any other sites if Hot Toys represented at TF?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

With all the Sideshow excitement I forgot about ol' Barbossa. Prolly a good thing he's not coming. Hot Toys is expensive and all the sideshow goodness would make him really hard for me to get.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It was mentioned that Wonderfest is coming up at the end of the month (also when the 2 Alien figures will debut) so my guess is we'll maybe see HT represent at that.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I canceled all my Pirates orders, but I will order a barbosa for sure.

Hot Toys is from Hong Kong. They wouldn't show up at the (American International) Toy Fair.

They usually do actually. Last year they announced the Aliens Power Loader there. It's not like SDCC, but second in popularity and recognition.

For some reason, things seemed to quiet down in general at TF this year. I wonder why?

Well, the Power Loader came via Sideshow, and since Sideshow didn't physically go to Toy Fair this year, I'm guessing HT's holding out for a show where there work can be seen in person and get the right audience.

Looking at some web coverage of TF, it seemed heavily leaned towards TOYS this year than collectibles, so maybe many collectibles companies are finding it's not worth their effort there. With web access so easy, what SSC did for TF is great for collectors and easier for them to not pack up for a few days.

Well, Sideshow offered it, but it wasn't an exclusive piece for Sideshow only. HT announced and released it and, like many other products, allowed SS to sell off a few.

That's my guess too, makes sense.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Well, while we do get cool previews and all, people can't attend Toy Fair, it's just for press and other merchandisers and such. HT's got a pretty solid distribution setup here in the U.S. and particularly their strong arrangement with Sideshow with collaboration and all, there's no need for them to fly out to a Toy Fair to present when their customer base won't have a chance to see it up close and personal. Someone mentioned a convention coming up soon where Medi and HT might be representing, we'll see what happens there.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

TF is more for the Hasbroish type items. Which is why I wouldn't be surprised to see GG not go next year as well as the other biggies. Concentrate on SDCC and use the web to build your base.

I'm in a disucssion with a guy on a local SW board that doesn't get why the higher end guys don't normally announce the price of an item before hand like Hasbro does.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

This thread will probably be bumped with pictures next month hopefully if Jack and Will ship.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Saw these guys at the Hot Toys store on Friday: (sorry for the poor shot. was in a rush!)
