Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I think the extenders make her look a little unnatural, I thought she looked a little oddly proportioned out of the box, but as far as height relative to Jack, that image is correct, they're just about equal.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I got Elizabeth last week and the Sao yesterday, and both are absolutely amazing. Hot Toys outdid themselves. There are a few nitpicks, though.

Elizabeth could do with a tighter outfit, but she's still a very good 1/6 figure to have. And the threads for her sheath were annoying as hell. The only problem I had with Sao was his sword hold thingy popping off so I had to get a replacement.

I'm looking forward to Turner, but I think I'll leave out Jack and Jones (well, perhaps when I see him in person and he looks good ;)). There are other toys to collect and I don't like PotC 2 & 3 at all. But this only shows what good job HT did.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Okay the first pick here is a standard true type body. The one I used for my Clark Kent figure. You can see the little leg "extenders" where the ball joint goes in. These are what I removed from Jacks legs.

Heres a picture of Jacks legs after I took the "extenders" off.

A side by side shot.

And the is where I attached them to Elizabeths legs. I put eletrical tape around them to help the super glue hold. I just never took it off. They are not being held on by the tape though.

It was a quick somewhat crude job, but it got the job done.

Excellent! Thank you.

Once I get Cannibal Jack that will be my plan on both CJ and Reg.

Down with extenders!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Has anyone ordered the Elizabeth Swann figure from Hot Toys?
Is it ready to ship or has the release date not been set yet?
Any reviews would be great.

Go back to about page 6 (if you're at 10 posts per page), she was released quite awhile ago, lots of images and opinions.

Are you serious? Swan has been out for months.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Eli, no one's ignorning you, there's just no information to give ya.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Speak for yourself, I was completely ignoring Eli.

lol Chase... tsk tsk...

Why must you be so cruel? *shakes head*

Anyway, thanks Maulfan. I expected as much. I just thought it was worth asking. Doesn't hurt to ask. :)

Well if it helps any, there's no way there won't be some celebratory sharing of that information when it comes. Will I can wait for, but I'm very eager to get the new Jack.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

For some reason I have it in my head that Jack and Will were shipping in March and Davy Jones was shipping in April. Or maybe it was Jack and Will in April, and Jones in May. But why would I think that when no one else knows?

I figured you guys seem to know more than you let on, which seems to be the case. I expect so much out of you guys! I expect the world dammit! And you can't even give me a release date?! 750 posts of HT POTC figures and I can't have said information made available to me?! FO SHAME!

Seriously though, I can not wait to get this figure in hand. This will be my first ever Hot Toys purchase. I simply can not express how much I love the execution of this figure. That one face sculpt with the face paint screams a very stunned and scared Johnny Depp. Plus I love the thumb/finger neckless. So much attention to detail.

This will go nicely with my first HT figure (which I had given to me as gift), the clean Endoskeleton, which is also a masterpiece.

Execution on Jack is great, even the first one, the only issues I found were the coat color, the length of strap on his sword bandolier, and the height of the HT body, everything else turned out amazing. While the sculpt isn't everyone's perception of Jack, I totally see Johnny in it and will still enjoy as the V2 only gives me 2 more sides to Jack, and his face had MANY expressions throughout the trilogy.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

OK cool.
I saw your pics MaulFan and I just placed an order for her.
I can't wait to get her.

You won't regret it. Her only real flaw is the whole bald head, wig hair deal, that never looks good on figures.

Do I have to assemble her or something?
Does the hair come off? Or is just the sculpted hair looks off?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I believe he's just referring to the fact that the hair and head are done as separate pieces and then glued together, so the hair looks kind of like it's just sitting on top of the head rather than growing out of it. Other figures like Sideshow's Boromir and Qui-gon have had similar issues.

Although I wasn't interested in getting all of the POTC figures, I got a good deal on Sao Feng recently and am now considering getting Elizabeth. I'll have to go back in the thread to read some of the opinions about her.

No, no assembly other than to tie her sword to her armor.

What I mean is, some figures from Sideshow and Hot Toys, that have long hair, are made such that the hair is a separate piece from the head and gets glued to the head in production. The end look is OK, but not as nice as when the hair and head are all part of one solid mass. At least on figures where this is used at the point where you can see the hair coming out of the head, like how Elizabeth's hair is parted in the middle but it's like 1/8 inch of material so it doesn't look like it's coming out of her head.
