Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

:rotfl I forgot it is March I was thinking that's next month... I think grad school has fried my brain.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

The only change I can think of is Jack's skin getting a tad more darker.

Jack's coat changed from a more cotton like material like Medicom Jack's to the softer material and from black to chocolate brown.

The skin tone is more a production variation, some people got it, others didn't and there's no pattern to how that occurred.

Ya I forgot about the Jacket. I sold my V1 a couple months ago so I don't remeber what tone his face was but it was still a kick a$$ figure.

Indeed, which is why I'm keeping it on top of getting V2. Soon, I'll have 4 12" Jack Sparrows, 2 Hot Toys, Medicom, and a NECA.

Nothing wrong with multiple Jacks. I may purchase V1 later so the second headsculpt will have a home.:D

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I got my Elizabeth Swann figure on Thursday afternoon and all I can say is WOW!
The likeness is dead on 100%!
The other cool thing about it is the box she comes in is a work of ar in itself.
It's pretty much like the SSC Buffy(including the annoying velcro) but a sleeve that slides over it making sure the box stays shut and not pop open.
I'm soooo glad I got this figure and it was mainly due to all the cool pics on this thread and comments too.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I recently got Elizabeth Swann and Sao Feng. In fact, I got all of my POTC from people here -- thanks guys. I continue to be blown away by Hot Toys' recent sculpts. These have got to be the best sculpts I have in my collection, and of course the costumes are amazing as well. I did have a little trouble with Elizabeth's scabbard, as people mentioned. I put some superglue on the end of the string to make it hard enough to fit through the hole  and also put superglue on the knots after I tied them, to make sure they wouldn't come loose.

I can't wait to have Davy Jones and Will Turner standing next to these guys!

I also got the POTC cosbabies. I like them pretty well. They're very well done, although I could see some people not liking the style. They are a little top heavy, and the swords are too hard to get into their hands, but aside from that I have no complaints. The best ones are Davy Jones and Jack with the hat and jacket. (The other Jack is almost identical, but has no hat so he's actually kind of pointless.)

These look pretty cool. I considered buying the Jack Sparrow, but for me, collecting Jack Sparrow stuff is about having it look like Johnny Depp, same with Hannibal Lecter stuff looking like Anthony Hopkins. Sometimes, a character can be defined away from the actor, but for me, only Johnny could be Jack Sparrow, they're one and the same. What makes Jack Jack is Johnny's acting talents, another actor could probably play a good Jack Sparrow, but it wouldn't be anything like what Johnny did with him.

Financially I like the wait, but as a collector, Davy, Jack 2 and Will cant come soon enough.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

And where the heck is Hector Barbossa?

He is the last of the eagerly awaited announcements for me. I got Davy and 2x Jack...and I know sooner or later they'll make a Will and Eliz that I want from DMC, but until then I NEED HT Hector pictures.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Well, I'm hoping for Hector by SDCC, but with the announcements HT's made outside of big conventions, they don't seem as into saving big stuff for big occassions like Sideshow, so we could see him before. Certainly I'd consider the ALIEN figures convention unveiling worthy, but they've just come out with that. They also tend to show these guys off in threes close together, so my guess is another wave of Barbossa and possibly a second Will and Elizabeth, or more fresh characters.

Oh please let it be so.

Lately though, HT has grouped things in twos: Dallas and Kane, Davy and Cannibal Jack. So maybe it will be Hector and Eliz DMC (since it's been a long time since an Eliz announement). Of course, if they do Hector and Tia Dalma, I'd be very happy with that too.

But yes, HT doesn't seem to care about saving announcements for conventions. They just throw it out there any time. LOL. SDCC is where we'll finally get to SEE their latest figures; ALIEN, new pirates, whatever.

Davy and Jack are shipping before SDCC, aren't they? I hope.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

If they grouped Barbossa with another Liz one would assume it'd be Barbossa from CotBP along with Maroon dress Swann wouldn't it?
