Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Don't like the fixed neck on the Will figure... takes away a lot of that nice poseability. And he kinda looks a bit giraffed?

But just looking at the comparison, I'm thinking the Prometheus (if it delivers) may put SS back up at the top in terms of basebodies.

And something for the Buffy fans :lol

I'm wondering if that's the real Will body, I sure hope not in terms of neck poseability. It's possible the photographer had a bare Jack at hand and threw Will on a different body. The skin tones on Will are pretty off between head and body too and HT isn't usually sloppy in that regard.

As for the base body, HT may have great articulation and solid build, but the anatomy is way off in the upper body especially.

If you're gonna pose them like that, then you do NEED more articulation...and a solid build in the upper body, as you say.

:)

That's the one! Parlay!

I could quote Jack all day, so many times he uses that smirk.

"and all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again, gone."

Yep. And you can just hear Jack's voice in your head when you read these lines. It's like no one else could ever say this now without Johnny's voice and inflection ringing in your ears.

i'm pretty certain that's the actual will body just stripped down. at least that's what jun said at mediworld.

Very true.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Ya, everything about Jack Sparrow is entertaining, behaviors, vocalizations, facial expressions, just the sort of wacky fun a pirate should be about. Slightly off topic of this thread, but I really hope the 1:1 Jack bust NECA was toying with becomes a reality.

:monkey2 I sure hope not, that'd be another let down of that figure, no full neck articulation and he's a giant.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

he is a giant - that is annoying. from the pics i've seen the neck looks good because of the open shirt - no semi-hideous joint where the neck meets the body but like you said you lose a ton of articulation. i guess it's ok though, orlando bloom was pretty wooden in the film, might as well make the figure stiff as well.

i'd be more bothered if jack's neck arrived like that - think of all the weird neck bendy action you'd miss out on.

I hope not either for your sake.

Good thing, they could use the Will body for Barbossa and have a pretty good height relative to Jack.

If for some reason I only get Jack and Davy, I'll be happy. Unless Jack towers over Davy. Then I'll be....:monkey4

I agree it's better for jack and may have a better aesthetic for Will, but I was hoping to get some cool staring down sword poses and if that really is Will's body, that won't be possible. I didn't even know HT had a body like that, which is why I'm suspicious of it. There's always been the variant of 2 joints or one, but always a neck adapter that I've seen, I've never seen a sculpted neck, but the elbows do look HT so who knows. I'll see what I think when I get him, if my issues with him outweigh my joys I'll return him, but the sculpt and items all look great so I want to give him a shot.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I've been going back and forth about whether to keep Will or not as well.
