I have a feeling it will be more than that. Wasn't the PS3 over $500 when it first launched?

It was, but it was also BC which apparently cost them a lot to make hence why it wasn't added in the later models. I don't think they will make the mistake again of over pricing the unit. They would be crazy to do that again.

Yes but the PS4 is cheaper to make than the PS3 was at the time.
Sony is trying to make up for last gen.

PS3 price was high because of Cell Processor and brand new HDMI licensing technology (1st with HDMI 1.3) plus HD audio licensing (TrueHD/DTS HD).

Well heck..if it's going to be less than my PS3 was I may get it at launch as well.

This won't be over $500 but I can see it being pretty close to that price point. The games alone are coming in pricey. Watch Dogs is listed on Amazon for PO at $95...

I think that's just a placeholder. I'm pretty sure I read that they'd be the same $60 price point.

I'm totally bummed that this is not backwards compatible with PS3 games. I still play my old games....especially when a new one comes out..I will usually play the earlier games in a series to get myself ready for the new release. This means I'm going to have to hold on to my PS3 to do that, because I refuse to buy these games again to download on the PS4 (if they even offer that).

Yeah I've been upset about this since the 360 and PS3. It always made sense to me that a console should be backwards compatible with the previous machine's games. I don't have enough entertainment stand shelf space or even plugs in the audio receiver to accommodate anymore systems. :slap

if what they are saying about allways online and mainly downloadable content this will be cheap as chips the pain will come later

Plus bluray drive, built in hdd, wifi and wireless controllers. None of which the basic xbox360 had out of the box when it first came out.

Blue lasers were quite expensive back then. You can get a $50 bluray player now.

:exactly::lecture:exactly:

PS3 was crazy ahead of the curve with HDTV output, plus the rest you mentioned.

I got the PS3 the day it came out.

Still my only movie/games console.

6yrs of service. Served me well. Ps4 will be a day 1 buy too most likely

I got mine shortly after launch because I wanted to wait for the 80g instead of the 40 or 60. The only problem I ever had with it was the PS2 emulator kinda sucks and my niece shoved another disk in the drive while it had something already in it. But today it still runs like a champ.

PS4 day one for me unless they severely undership and I have to fist fight people at Best Buy for one.

PS4 is DAY ONE for me. Always was. Not just because of the **** storm MS has just caused lol
That just makes me smile more :)

Playstation owner since the first one, and that's it ever since.
Other then my PC.

So for me next year: PC and PS4.

I was on the fence, but after that Xbox One fiasco, I'm not anymore. PS4 is the way to go. I care more for Sony's exclusives than I do Microsoft's anyway. Even my Wii U is looking more sexy now, can't wait for the games to roll in for that damn console already.

I was a PS gal...had the first one and 2 and then 3. It was about 6 years ago I got my first 360 and will admit I ended up playing more games on the 360 than I did the PS3...but that was mainly because I was doing MP then, which I haven't done in quite awhile. My first gen PS3 still runs like a champ - zero problems (and I have the 20 GB version :lol) I also use it to play my bluray movies. Looks like I'm coming full circle and will be back to just PS. No more XBox for me - too many things I really do not like about the new system that even if they do get some great exclusives, I just am not interested.

PS4 looks much smaller in that partial reveal (yet more powerful) than the Xbox Won (not).

Remember how heavy and loud the 1st PS3 fat was though. :lol
