Yeah, I didn't drink the kook aid. If you read between the lines there isn't much of a difference in policies but people only are hearing what they want. I am just stating facts, I know it sucks when people state facts.

What sorts of facts? Killing used games? Mandatory connection? All sorts of restrictions, while the PS4 has none?

Mhm yeah it sucks :pow

Dem small letters....

So you didn't drink the Sony kool aid but you drank the MS' Kool aid, gotcha!

No, Online will stay free, just PSN+ will have a fee, like it does now.

I didn't catch it either. Will need to rewatch the PS+ segment. Hope it's not true.

Ah okay thanks for clearing that up.

And woohoo! Destiny is looking nice, great to hear Jason's voice again after so long.

Nope, Playstation Plus will be REQUIRED for online multiplayer. he says it in the presentation, but he breezes over it pretty fast. If you're not paying attention, you will miss it.

ALSO, if you like, pause this official sony video at 13 seconds, and read the fine print at the bottom.

$399
No used game DRM/restrictions
No online checks to play games

I try to stay impartial, but all of this is tipping the scales.

No exactly true, there WILL be used game restrictions, just not from Sony. Keep drinking the kool aid.

WE gotta see that source, though, i DO believe you.

still, good show sony. that's definitely 1 for you, lets see the microsoft reaction.

Also, the developer/publisher side used games sales?

I see this going 1 of two ways.

The Publisher informs gamestop they are adding a 30$ "used game activiation fee" to preowned titles.

OR they inform gamestop they must now pay royalties to the publisher in the form of a 5-10% cut of the used sales of every game, and tell gamestop to pick.

one of those KILLS used game sales completely, and puts gamestop out of buisness. The publishers don't want that.... yet.

the other means buisness as usual for the customers, and we notice NO change, while gamestop looses a SMALL amount of profits, and stays in buisness.
Though it might kill mom and pop shops.

which do you think is more likely?

Older games will be available via Gaikai or whatevers it's called.

But i wouldn't pay for games i already have.

If they could impliment a system where you take the serial number or something from your game and use that on Gaikai to download the game free, that would be perfect

They could simply implement it by having the user insert the disc into the PS4 and have it read the disc to determine ownership and allow you to play through Gaikai as long of the disc is inserted

So it does required PSN+, no biggie, I can't even complain about that after all the MS's retardation and the glimpse of what console gaming could have turned into if it was up to them.

The $599 price wasn't because of backwards compatibility, it was because it had a Blu-ray drive (blu-ray players were like $800 at the time) and a unique processor designed by Sony.

True, but all the extras don't come for free...there was some cost...! Anyways, I am not saying I'm right, you are all wrong, its just how I feel - nothing more.

I won't lie: PS4 playing my uncharted games would have rocked! For sure

My one issue with Sony still: their PSN - they need to get the online servers up-to-date and ready for the Next Gen. They need to do early PSN updates, and not this ****ty 4pm crap they do now. Its getting better, but they aint there yet

I almost cry when the fat dude say no DRM no always on ...... :panic::panic::panic:

Ok, the initial models of PS3 has BC implemented, had all the bells and whistles anyone could have hoped for, and at $599 it had FAIL written all over it. BC takes time, money, energy away from new games. And the PS4 price of $399 has WIN all over it. IF they did BC, it may have had to cost more, and no one wants that. Not with cloud streaming coming

It wasn't $599 because of the BC. I'm sure you know that though. And if the Ps4 was BC, I can assure you it would still be $399.

FYI, I still use my original 60 gig PS3 because of the BC. You may not think it's a worthwhile feature....for some reason, but it's an awesome feature to me that has always been used and appreciated by myself and most people I've talked to about it.

Good job Sony!!!

Maybe you stop going to Mexico is really starting to take long term effect on your brain.

Everyone here keeps saying no used game restriction which is not true. Fact is they have said its up to publisher. People saying online is still free, fact is that its not. Price is less but fact you have no idea what's that only gets you as there are no complete specs. So yeah there is lots to read between the lines that are plucking you fish out of the water left and right.

I haven't drank either kool aid. It's very likely I won't get either until I really have to.

I see publishers requiring a % of used games traded in through authorized outlets. I see them selling games at higher price point that will allow for unlimited rental use(for both systems). They want there cut and they now have the platforms to get it.

Ok, lets predict the future with this right here, and right now:

EA = will require used game restrictions; All other publishers - nope!

I think you will be very surprised how many publishers that will take advantage of this.

Don't forget how many currently had online passes.

No online check in, good looking exclusives, no lame peripheral requirement and a much better price is enough for me. I don't like where things are going with used games, but maybe publishers will surprise us and not abuse this new system...yeah, I'm not buying that either.

Ok what? What sort of retardation is that? Please elaborate on that comment about Mexico, go ahead I love me a good'ol dumb xenophonia story, are you drunk? High? :rotfl

"It's up to the publisher", you're seeing ghosts, they said that "it's not required", that doesn't automatically mean that all developers will take advantage of that, if anyone does it, It'll probably be EA, activision, IDK, the usual companies, not everyone like with the Xbox one.

That is if I play along with that crazy unfounded assumption of yours.

And let's not forget the kinect nonsense, yeah....

So online is not free, I see no biggie there.

Yeah glad I stuck around to watch this one.

I don't think the publishers can do anything about used games without help from the console manufacturer, which is why Microsoft is doing it. They have to build that functionality into the console. The only thing the publisher can do is the online pass type thing.
