Some people don't want to deal with all the BS that involves selling on eBay/forums

They don't always sell right away.

True dat! You can also just buy the reg from Sideshow, unless you are desperate for an Ex in which case their is the waitlist instead of paying extra getting it from eBay. If I knew I wouldn't have the money to pay for the statue I would just cancel and forget about the nrd. CSI does make a good point though, you do have options if you don't want SS to keep your money and hopefully make some profit out of the whole deal.

i think people on the fence about this will change their minds once they get this beauty in hand :)

I generally believe that the 1/4 scale market feeds of being self-centered innate flippers who take pride in having things other cannot have without paying the price, but that doesn't mean I'm a part of that mentality. I rather cancel my exclusive and let someone who was on the waitlist, and obviously wanted the piece but could not make it in time, be able to get it at retail than grab the piece to try to make a profit off ebay or something.

I really like Poison Ivy, but I've had issues with this piece recently as I keep reevaluating it. There are aspects that I do not think worked very well in statue form. Mainly the arm position just looks strange to me in the pictures. It probably works better in person, but I think this piece would look much nicer if she had her arms out to her sides or placing her hands on her hips. The face looks a bit weird to me as well. I just am not sure what kind of expression they were going for in the end. It looks like she's sleepy or drugged or something. I understand they wanted to go for seductive, but I don't think the end result worked out quite the well.

That being said she looks really good from certain angles, especially toward the side. The hair is beautiful.

And honestly I am still mad about the base. It baffles me how all out they went for Joker and Batman but then they went for a significantly smaller and less elaborate base for Ivy. It just looks silly especially if you have many of them standing next to each other. Having Batman's base be taller would have been perfect since it would have him looking over all his villains, but having Joker's base be the same height just screwed everything up. Wouldn't be surprised if Harley's base was as tall as Joker's too.

The bases will probably work out & fit in together eventually.

I hope so too. Ideally at this point Catwoman and Harley Quinn should all have similar sized bases that match up in a way that you could pose the three together and it seems somewhat natural. As part of the Gotham Sirens and all coming from the same artist I would hope Sideshow would design them to function as a set.

I have little doubt Poison Ivy will come out impressive. Sideshow has been doing pretty well recently. I'll probably still get this if anything because I don't think Poison Ivy will be revisited again at least not in the next few years.

People may hate me for saying so, but this is probably one of the weakest designs of hers I've seen though. I like the more green skin style and truth be told I love her New 52 look. The way the vegetation is on the black jumpsuit just compliments her hair really nicely it's a beautiful design. I cannot stand the exposed stomach on this piece though. She already has a super curvy body the random sex appeal just makes it look like some stripper wearing an odd bikini and leggings rather than any plant based supervillain.

We shall see how she turns out. I may be blown away by this one in the end :) I like to be critical prior though as it keeps expectations realistic for me.

You really think if he listed for his cost plus shipping it wouldn't sell right away? :cuckoo:

.

There is a difference between being a self centered flipper and just plain dumb. If your short on cash it doesn't make a lot of sense to throw away $30. At the very least you could sell it to a fellow boardie for your cost + shipping :dunno

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I've been in enough conversations on this board to know that I just can't agree with how people look at this hobby or what people consider "dumb" or "smart."

Well, I have to say from experience that I am glad that not all Freaks cancel their statues. I am getting my Batman Ex from a Freak who decided to sell it to me for just a little bit above cost. I think that if I ever decided to let something go I had orders I would do the same

I wouldn't go as far as to say I can't stand it, but I would much prefer it to be covered, too. I think it'd be a classier statue that way.

Yeah. I feel like it spoils some of the statue's style too. Wouldn't you want to have as much as the vegetation as possible for the sake of the complex sculpt? It also creates a better contrast with her cleavage and face as those are the parts with normal skin color. I think I've said this before, but I would be interested in seeing a custom of this statue where they cover that part up and add plants to it or something.

No, It still may not. People are very cautious on ebay about scams now. Just because you list something as "pre-order" or "not in hand" it may not sell. So even though you're listing at what can be seen as a good deal on the EX, people may wait until you have it in hand to bid.

I love how every time some one says something your come back with a snide condescending comment by the way.

Every time I start to doubt this piece, I do the same thing: go to the Sideshow 360 view and look at her side and back. IMO this is a piece that should be displayed from the side view. It just looks so incredible from those angles, I think because in my opinion the absolute best part of the piece is that fantastic hair. From the back you get to see the vines crawling up her too and all the leaves in her hair. It's outstanding.

Here, I just did a quick manip.

Imagine this, but done properly.

I cancelled my PO due to lack of funds. Whenever I revisit this thread I'm full of regret. This is an astounding piece and I can't wait for the in hand photos on the forum.

Ya, I'm stuck on the waitlist for her. I also hear you about helping out fellow boardies there Monger. I always undervalue my stuff on purpose... such as on my for sale thread here to help other collectors fulfill their collection. All this selfish hoarding just to flip is just revolting. They're like useless parasites in our community.

I thought about getting my first comiquette... a guy in the Rhino thread said he just wanted to make back his cost+shipping on his exclusive. In PMs... he asked for $650. Ya... it cost you 400 plus shipping *******.
