I'm classing the ships by what i have seen them look like and do according to the movies
nothing more nothing less.

The day I start calling a pred a 'yautja' is a day I don't even want to think about :lecture

Well there is nothing in the movies to identify what's what, you have to look at additional material if you want to know what you're talking about :)

And those ship classes you mention are nowhere in the novels or comics, they're pure fanon.

That said, I agree completely. IIRC, the AVP novelisation had the big ship being over a kilometre long... that means that the smaller ones could easily be 100m (as we saw in AVP-R).

Now, (again IIRC) the Predator 2 novelisation mentioned burn marks from a launch at the site of the original Predator encounter; and, unlike AVP, the ship in Predator doesn't hang around to collect anyone. So I'd guess the original Pred had a small, one-occupant craft like Wolf's in AVP-R which launched from a 'medium sized' ship at the start of the film.

Neither type of ship has been "officialy" labeled either way.

So both of you are right...and wrong...at the same time. :)

a mothership is not deployed by another ship!

so the p1 craft cannot be a mothership as we saw it deployed from another ship in AvP:R

Yes, the books are well written. But all they are is mass produced Fan Fiction. I take nothing they say to heart.
