Did you seriously just say no one liked or played Alpha? :lol

Well if your a casual gamer then yeah, I guess you might have liked it. The currently accepted and popular games in the series are -

SF3 third strike, SF2 Turbo and the current SF4 then.................................the Alpha series.

I suppose if you started off with Alpha that might be different but the majority of SF fans started off with SF2 or even SF1.

Part of the reasoning behind the choosing of his blue/yellow colours is they represent Sagat when he was driven by anger, as does the alternate portrait. The two go together. It's also part of the reason you see so much fan art with the blue/yellow shorts. Fans love that part of Sagat's history.

I get that's the reason, I still think it's the wrong choice though. An alternate portrait with the red and blue would have been the go. They just split the fan base to ensure sales. Take classic red and blue Sagat with no extra HS or Alpha Sagat with HS or buy both statues.

Then you have the logistics of making it fit with your current line colours on top of that. Luckily enough I don't collect the line so it doesn't matter to me but I'd have a tough choice to make if -

A) I did like the alternate headsculpt
B) All my other figures were in classic colours.
C) I only collected SF2 characters

Swap out shorts and perhaps an alternate hand pose would have been better IMO but it is what it is.

My reasoning behind going with the Sidshow Ex is I wanted him to match Bison, as he's the only other statue from the line I have. Sagat with an angry face alongside Bison made the most sense.

The blue/yellow had no part in my choosing. He could've been any of 5 colour combinations and I'd have chosen him. Blue/yellow, from memory, was my fifth preference :D

Here's a picture I created, before the colours were decided, expressing my first preference for the Sideshow Ex. White/red has always been my favourite combination and I desperately wanted Jerry to make Sagat tanner.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Those would have been my (and the obvious) choices IMO because I really love the white and red and it would have been a much tougher choice.

I guess colours don't matter to some people but to others like me, I want the statue to represent my memory of Sagat and the yellow/blue shorts aint it!

Regardless, both versions are probably my single favourite statue in the line - QC permitting.

I posted these on SF but thought to post them here too.

Thanks for these!:hi5: This is the sexiest male statue i have ever seen! Im going crazy because its sold out EVERYWHERE! GAHH :gah: and im not willing to pay triple on ebay! -- Too crazy!:horror

How tall do you think this guy will be? In inches.

21 inches pretty sure from the specs. He'll be massive.

Im going crazy because its sold out EVERYWHERE!

I'd think there would still be some regulars floating around in local retailer shops. I know a couple of stores in Australia you can still order the reg.

On release though, these will be long gone.

This thing is amazing and will be a great piece in anyone's collection no matter what color shorts you're getting.

Listen to the comments of those who videotaped it at SDCC.

Alpha 2 had a really competitive scene back in the days, it was pretty much the main tournament game after SF2T but before 3rd Strike, so it had many good years during its time, I still remember Alex Valle being a top Alpha2 player back then. Alpha 1 and 3 are pretty casual imo, but still really fun. Part 2 is definitely competitive though.

Also, from gameplay standpoint, 3rd strike may be a more important game then the Alpha series. But from character art/development standpoint, the Alpha series is probably the most important era second only to the original SF2. There's lots of iconic stuff that came from it like long hair Ken, Evil Ryu, Alpha suit Chun-Li, Sakura, Final Fight characters, etc.. and lots of story that would become a center point later on like Charlie Nash's history, the Shadowloo Dolls, Sagat's change in path, etc..

Also, Capcom kept reusing the Alpha sprites for countless crossover games and sequels for more than a decade, the Alpha sprites were probably the most reused sprites in video game history, so it sort of became the standard in a weird way.

Normally PCS would include the extra heads and hands in both the regular version and the EX version, like Bison for example, and the only difference would be the color select. I think it would make a lot of people happy if they could also include both of the Sagat heads in the regular version as well.

I think that was just natural because it was the latest game. Nobody really remembers the "great" Alpha players or at least I don't and I'd consider myself a pretty massive SF fan although I did take a few years off. Valle is remembered for his SF2 efforts or at least for me he is.

Alpha's not even mentioned really among SF circles and it was just really played on it's own time period. Unlike SF2 which got the HD remix and also 3rd strike of which both games are still used in competitions and still have a healthy fan base.

The artwork I guess you could attribute that to Alpha although I'd say it was more of a progression than groundbreaking, just how SF4 sprites and designs are used in SFxT.

It's hard to nail exactly which series they are taking influence from with the statue's as each statue is quite different. I think this Sagat is probably the best of both worlds, large muscles but while still being quite sleek. Maybe a mix of Alpha and SF2.

If anything he looks more like SF4 Sagat I guess.

there has been plenty of news on this on SF. Jerry said it is shipping from China on the 15th of April. so we will have it mid/late May
